DS35520 UNIT COLLAPSED VERTICALLY. OPEN SUPPLY RESISTOR AND SCAN DIODE LEAKY. PICTURE NOW OPEN BUT NO TUNER. TUNER B+ SUPPLY THERE. CAN INPUT VIDEO THROUGH JACKS AND GET AUDIO AND VIDEO THROUGH INPUT JACKS ONLY USING S-VIDEO JACK. IF JUST USING STANDARD VIDEO JUST A BLUE SCREEN WITH AUDIO. CAN AUTOPROGRAM TUNER AND SAYS NO SIGNAL. IF USING A/V JACKS, HAVE AUDIO ONLY WITH BLUE SCREEN. NO VIDEO OUT ON SET. SUSPECT COMB FILTER PROBLEM?? ANYONE KNOW IF COMB FILTER CIRCUIT IS ON A/V INPUT MODULE?? THANKS!

Cable input

Hi
I think the problem is in the tuner, a small metal box near the antenna input and can be removed and serviced. But first you should check the DC supply line to the tuner. The circuit has a big limiting resistor (15K/3W) and a 33V zener diode and a small filter electrolitic capacitor). The zener is prone to be leaky and unstable.

Horizontal line

Basing on your post : Horizontal line ,

check vertical deflection circuits

( includes IC, capacitors , resistors % foil paths ) , up to the yoke.

Could be just a cold solder joints on Vertical IC, open resistor,

leaky capacitor or both

Have voltage :

On most the supply line of vertical IC is +24V

What can u do when the picture is vertically too big the heads don't fit the screen?

You have a vertical problem. You have bad capacitors next to the vertical IC. There may be leaky diode, a bad resistor and the Vertical IC may need resoldered or replaced. This is a good start for repairing your TV. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

Panasonic M#35G25B picture goes to single horizontal line but sound still good. We can bump side of tv and restore picture. Problem is becoming more frequent. What would cause this and is it something we...

Assuming this is a TV with a picture tube, it is most likely a vertical deflection/drive fault, caused by a number of components including (but not limited to) the vertical IC. Dry solder joints and/or hairline fractures within the copper tracks on the board can cause the vertical collapse as well as leaky diodes and faulty resistors. (dry joints are usually the most common causes of circuit failure - before component failures) Non-electrolytic capacitors which are also in the vertical stage can affect the output when they fracture.

** It would be a good idea to check the board thoroughly for dry solder joints before considering replacement of any parts on it. **

Unless you are tech. savvy, and have some experience with electronic circuits, particularly TVs, this is not something you should try to repair yourself. Send it to an authorised repair centre for a quote and second opinion, then make a decision afterwards - up to you.

MY LCD HDTV 15 INCH TV HAS A PROBLEM I DO NOT HAVE PICTURE ONLY VOICE IT WAS PURCHASE ON 10/27/08 WHAT CAN I DO TRIED EVERYTHING

1.In this case the problem is usually found in the high voltage power supply. Most probably is the vertical IC defect.
Warning : This procedure has to be done by an expert. It is risky and can cause death to those who dont have knowledge in repairing.
A.) Open the unit and try adjusting the screen variable found in the flyback transformer. Notice any pattern on the screen of your tv.If their is a horizontal white line on the screen the defect is the vertical IC,replacing it can remedy the problem. Also check the 24v supply of the vertical IC coming from the flyback transformer. If their is no 24v get the resistance of the fuseable resistor and rectifier diode.Usually the resistor opens and the diode create short circuit.
B.)For most, make sure that their is no loss contact or cold solder on the board.

Screen only showing single line of video in center.

hi there, is the single line horizontally or vertically? if horizontal line, you do have a vertical section problem, check some parts at vertical section, the vertical ic, the power source of vertical section ie diode & resistors. ty

Vertical collapse

I think L301 is an inductor coil supplying B+ voltage to the vertical output IC, also a diode and resistor are associated with this circuit. Most likely the vertical IC has shorted causing L301 to open up. The diode could also be shorted. Stargazer
