The machine just turns itself off completely. One minute it's playing, the next I have static. I have a 12 disc collection of 80s music videos that I play here in my teahouse. I can pretty much predict which videos it will shut off during, but the discs are in good shape. I have cleaned them just to be sure and I even used one of those special dvds to clean the player's mechanism. Also, today I paused the player for a while and it shut off while on pause. This is very annoying. Any help?

That sounds about right, using Wi Fi does use a lot of battery. For video, Apple advertises up to 5 hours, and for audio up to 36 hours. However, these are done in minimalist conditions. For example, they?d have auto-brightness turned on, the volume at only a certain level and, if it?s music, they?d turn the screen on only when absolutely necessary (yes, volume does have an impact on the battery).
I used to get around 12 hours listening to music, but that was because I always have Wi Fi on, and also have it set to fetch my email every 15 minutes. Oddly, since jailbreaking, it took me about 20 hours to completely drain the battery. That included using the internet (mainly Facebook) quite a bit, checking emails, listening to music, watching videos, AND playing games (well, emulators).
