Question about HP Photosmart M307 Digital Camera

Have a big issue with my digital camera. Some one help me out.

I have a HP M307 digital camera. My waranty period is now over. I get a very serious problem now. I switch it on with the batteries. It gets switched on. I am able to take the snaps. No other buttons are working after that. Even i am not able to switch it off. I have to remove the batteries for switching it off. Even i am not able to view the photos that i have taken. Can anyone help me out.

This is Mark again, I may have found the problem at least with my camera. I had a feeling that the Playback button was faulty before but couldn't confirm it. Now checking again I pressed and released it quickly using my finger nail and guess what... everything is working normally. This button still does not feel right so this problem may reappear. You may have the same problem with this or another button. Unfortunately this is not likely something you can repair. Good luck. Mark

I have the exact same problem, I have no card so that is not the problem. Of course tech support has never heard of this. They will repair it for $20 off regular price, which is still more than it is worth. They also offered me a $50 gift certificate which it took. The problem being, I have to buy another crappy HP product to use it. Mark

This is a big time failure. Take the card out and make sure it has clean contacts. Format the card in the camera. If to no avail go to HP technical Support This may be a known issue even though warranty ids over- but where further help may be available

Off lens,view finder is not workink
The view finder is the little window on the top left of the camera. If you want to use the display as a view finder, you have to press the button with the camera logo. It is called the life view mode. you use the same button to switch off the display. Be aware using the display, will drain the batteries quicker. Somewhat faster then with modern cameras.
see page 19 of the manual.

Sorry, If your viewfinders lens is defective or lost, I'm afraid even HP does not have any spare parts after almost 10 years. Better try to buy a N307 on eBay, for a few dollar and use the lens from that one.

When I turn my camera, all I have is a black screen
If you are able to see it the icons of menu it means that shutter of the lens block is permanently close and it is problem of the lens block.If you cant to see icons and all LCD is black it means there is LCD problems.If this is problem of the LCD you can try to take out the covers and disconnect and connect LCD cable again to the main board.If it is not help maybe it will be best to buy new camera as repair M307 in the service center will not be economicaly effective.

My camera won't stay on. I just got it, and put new Duracell batteries in it. It displays the HP screen, then goes off. It came with a dock, and I have it on the dock, if that helps.
put litium batteries..it should do it!!!!

Error message unsuppoorted card
the SDHC cards will not work with the m307 or older digital camera. They max out at 2-gig. Check with the manufacturer's documentation (manuals, etc.)

Get a 2GB SD card.

No button is working
Hi Parora. I have the same problem. I dared to open the unit and I find a problem with the playback button. No solution is possible. Sorry.

LCD screen displays menu items but will not display picture capture & won't take pictures
A very common problem with many Digital cameras. It sounds as if you are suffering from either a CCD problem or a video board problem. Impossible to tell without it being on the bench to check. You could dismantle it and check there's nothing adrift such as flat ribbon cables in their sockets or loose plugs and sockets between the printed circuit boards. Watch out for the flash unit it can give you a nasty shock if it's charged. Most cameras seem to built to last as long as the warranty and then die. This keeps you coming back for more. At least you were lucky to get 2 years out of yours before it passed on.
