Re: PS2 will not play DVD
Hi im not sure if you got this cause my page went out. The solution is that the ps2 is really ment for gameplay. If the DVD does not work then put in a gameplay disk and see if that works. If that doesnt work then all outlets from the ps2. Heres interesting. This same thing happened to my son and it was because my son always played during a storm was approaching or during a storm. I know it could be very dangerous. When you play during a storm your ps2 or any game system will die even sooner. Thats because every system has something in it which will make it power open the disk tray ect. That also could be the problem because it will not always read. Thats my solution.
Thank you for listening. I hope this works out for you.
If you have anymore questions you would like to ask please ask me at any time on any date. Thanks alot.
Make sure the disk is compatible and not damaged.Try playing another disk and see what happens if you still do not get anything you may want to consider a xbox or 360 with remote control for dvds. Also check to see if ps2 has a remote for playing dvd disc. never worry!!

Blue colored disks are the hardest for your ps2 to read, there is an adjustment to try to improve this, but it requires opening your console and digging into the DVD drive. Most people don't bother with it unless it won't play other disks. Here is a link to instructions: http://www.exploitstation.com/index.php?page=ps2repair
Fat and Slim PS2's generally have different playability with disks. a slim, for example, does not want to play old blue-backed disks, though it will easily read PSX black backs.
I'll need more information on the disk and the PS2 to give a complete answer.
Does this happen to all of your Discs? If you know someone who also has a PS2, try to run your discs first on that PS2...If they worked, then probably either the lens of your PS2 needs to be replaced, or it only needs cleaning. Or it is also possible that your disc isn't inserted on the disc tray properly...and by "inserted properly " on the tray I mean is to make sure that the 3 pins on the spinner of your PS2 are sticking out of the hole on the DVD and thus gripping the disc...
