My new HTC touch HD is kinda heating up too fast. After just 1 hr talk straight talk, its really heated up. Is this normal, or is there something wrong with my battery or my phone itself.
And aslo the battery takes too much time to charge fully. Could someone help me out, Thanks...
Dont forget you should be closing off the programs in the top right hand corner (pressing home or changing program doesnt close the program so make sure you are usually only running about 50%) and yes it is normally hot my friend and i both have one and we have already seen that both our hd's are quite hot on the back but not scorching... the bat should take up to 4 hrs most to charge off a wall and with regular txting and small (1-10 min calls) a couple of times a day and a little bti of web browsing the phone bat should last a day least.... (again make sure in setting wifi is off when not using and under settings/connections tab/com manager that this is all turned off (just to make sure)) especially remember that even closing the web browser in top right hand corner can leave 3g running so click on the 3g icon (depending on provider) on the top tab and disconnect it (also save u data usage)) atm im running for about 2 days off a charge at least and all i have done recently is reflashed my rom off the htc web site and whenever not suing the phone put it to sleep using the top power button (one press but im sure u all no).
Hope this helps! :D (great phone when you learn how to work it!)
You might be able to downclock the phone's processor with OMAPclock. This could be a design flaw. I wouldn't worry about it if it's not 'too' hot, and it works fine while it's hot...
Hi,
The heat is normal...unless it's scorching hot...then in that case there could very well be something wrong with y our battery. It takes a few hours for the battery to be charged completely with the phone turned off.

i have changed my htc touch 3times because of overheating..i finally give up..it seems the phone itself heats up with moderate use
I have the same problem, after charging all night the phone last for two hours and then the battery runs down when hot, within half an hour. It seems to be the electronics at the bottom of the phone which gets hotter than the battery. But this could be because the battery is delivering too much current.
The manufacturers website help line could only offer absolutely useless advice of hit the reset button inside - which is normally for software issues, not hardware issues. It is the most expensive piece of telephonic junk I have ever purchased
Yup i am facing the same problems, when connect to notebook via usb its get heat at the rear bottom of my phone. Also while talking, using wireless internet connections.
Hi,I have HTC touch hd for 2 months,and I have a
problem.When I use the WiFi,or I turn on the display,during chargeing
the battery,my phone become very hot.I know that this should be
normal,but it`s getting really really hot.I don`t think that it`s
normal for so expenxive and high class phone. It`s overheat right on the
back side, where are the memory and the sim cards. So please,if u know
any solution of that problem,or place, where I can take the phone for
correction,I`ll be happy to know it.

solution of my problem
I bough the unit a couple of weeks ago. In the first charge, it heated up and made me think hmmm!
Afterwards, it heated up 5 or 6 times. Everytime it heats up the battery goes down in a 7-8 hours without hardly using the phone. I kept it in stand-by while heated, the battery went down the same. If it does not heat up, the same battery lasts whole day with 4 indicators intact.
Battery does not heat up. I used a little application to monitor the battery and the temp fluctuated btw 20-24 degrees even when heating up.
Strange thing is that I cannot reproduce it. It just happens randomly (of course when you just need the phone most).
I'd need to add that while doing the tests I mentioned below, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS were all off. The only radical thing I do with it is occasional internet browsing (over 3G, no pictures) and make/receive calls. But during testing, I did not even do that (except for receiving calls).
