Question about HP Photosmart 2710 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Dell 420 notepad and HP All In One 2710 printer

I have a new Dell 420 notepad running XP with the latest updates. I also have two other computers which both are networked wireless to my HP 2710 all in one printer which both are printing okay. Using my new Dell 420 I can ping my printer. The problem: When I am trying to load the 2710 applications & drivers on my D420 using either the printer supplied CD or a newer driver from HP's web site I cannot load the applications and HP drivers. After loading the 500Meg application and de-compressing (where it loads many files in my temp directory) it begins the installation by Flashing a HP install screen and then NOTHING further happens?? All fIREWALLS INCLUDING THE MS FIREWALL AND VIRUS PROTECTIONS ARE TURNED OFF. I have uninstalled and tried several times with the same results. The HP driver from HP is rub_w01_Americas_Euro1 Any help would be appreciated. After paying HP's support $35 I gave up. Dave.

It's some kind of communication error. I would suggest uninstalling the printer from the second computer. Also, make sure you go to the website for that printer and download the latest driver that was designed for Vista 32bit. If you are using the included software disc it may not have the latest driver updated that fixes this problem.

Installed HP C6250 on new Dell desktop w/ Win 7. Works fine, but other laptop (using XP) won't recognize it on the wireless network.

HP created a software update to resolve this issue. Follow these steps to download and run this update.
  1. Click this link, Windows 7 Critical Update to enhance reliability of network connection .
  2. Click Download . A window opens with options to run or save the file. Click Run . Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.

Windows cannot configure this wireless network

What OS are you running? XP? Most wireless networks are now using the WPA protocol and computers with XP that are not updated at least to SP2 will not connect to these networks even though you can see them available. I would go ahead and updated to the latest SP3 (Service Pack 3). I cant really be more helpful without knowing the OS (operating system).

CAUSE
Windows XP SP3 introduces a new .dll file that is named Wlanapi.dll. This file is installed in the %WINDIR%\System32 folder. Certain device driver installations for some third-party wireless network adapters also install a Wlanapi.dll file in the %WINDIR%\System32 folder. If such a file is installed in this folder before you install Windows XP SP3, the Wlanapi.dll file that is associated with the network adapter is replaced by the file from the Windows XP SP3 installation.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, check the Web site of the wireless network adapter's manufacturer for the latest device drivers that are available for a Windows XP SP3-based system. Then, download and install the latest device drivers for the wireless network adapter. Source(s): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950720

Dell dimension 3000 won't see wireless network

Hi, I've jst been looking on the web at the Mimo routers, you may find this article interesting, it may help even though its a couple of years old?

http://www.behardware.com/articles/614-2/wi-fi-mimo.html

Pay attention to part about 802.11n compatibility?
Perhaps try changing the IEEE standard on the router to 802.11g in the set up pages, as it may be set at 802.11n, which your older wireless card will not see.

As to the acquiring ip address message, try using a static ip address, here's a good guide:-

Maybe this will help?
