I have had this in the box and it has only been tested/used once a few years ago. I need to use a recorder again and I've opened it, put new batteries in and it just keeps beeping and the displays shows C Hk which looks like I should "Check" something, but what and how? There are no notes of this in the instruction leaflet and there is nothing showing on the Olympus website.
Make sure the recorder is out of the HOLD position. The HOLD switch is like the on/off button to the device. If you move it out of HOLD the device should come on and you should be able to start recording on it.
Hi. this is a solution to a question I didn't ask yet. I've got the recorder, no manual, and just put fresh batteries in it. I couldn't find an "on/off" button, but you just gave me the answer. :)

Olympus DW90 Digital Voice Recorder - Display Shows CHK and beeps
I use my recorder all the time. It is now dead. I changed the batteries and it beeps continously and also displays Chk. Hold is off. I have tried putting the batteries in with Hold on and with Hold off. It still beeps. Can you help?
I have not used the recorder for a long time. Now when I pout batteries in the recorder, the display shows CHK and beeps.
I have also the same problem: DW-90 not in use for a long time (no batteries inside) > I put fresh batteries in > CHK displays, no reaction, reset not possible.
