Question about HP Compaq nx9020 Notebook

Battery Problems My Battery stopped charing some time back so the notebook will only run on AC power. I have purchased a new battery, but that seems not to charge. The same with a second new battery. Clearly all three batteries can not be bad, so something must be wrong with the notebook. Anybody else with the same probelm? Anybody got a solution for me as without the battery the PC is difficult to use as I travel a lot. Thanks Phil in Cambridge

The battery charger on the motherboard is bad. A small daughter board that holds the charging circuit will need to be replaced. I sure the battery is fine.

Battery light flashes 4times orange then 1green

We had the same problem. I figured out it was NOT the main battery, but the auxilary battery. The batter life WITH the auxiliary was 68% total, when I removed the 2nd battery the battery life shot back up to 98% AND the flashing orange / red lights were gone (both on the power source and off). I then replaced the auxiliary battery with a spar back up to make SURE that it was not a fluke and with the new backup battery firmly in place the lights still did not flash. Problem solved.

Omnibook 6000 will not run POST. Has LEDs permanently on

When was the last time a BIOS update was done? See if one is available for this laptop and give it a try. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER WHEN DOING THIS OR YOU CAN RENDER THE LAPTOP INOPERABLE!! If youre not comfortable doing this, have a service technician do it for you. Sounds like the problems really went into overdrive when the new drive was installed.

Powering off

Actually, if it is beeping as though the battery is low even while it is plugged in, it is because the battery is no longer any good and is sucking all the power from the wall. You need to purchase a new battery. Until you get a new battery, you can simply remove the battery and use the laptop plugged in. That will stop it from turning off. Been there - done that. Hope that helps! ; )

Battery charging

Does the machine boot and work just on AC?

If it does then you may have a bad battery - Does the old battery charge?

If it does not work on AC then try another AC adapter - even the generic universal kits should be enough to test it.

hopefully that's all thats wrong. let us know.
