My DX483101e, the old hard drive (win 7 pre) went black, would not start, installed a new 1T Western dig hard drive, added win 8 (bad idea), eventually it went black, would not start. A friend got them...

Check in BIOS that your HDD id showing.

if it is showing then do the DPS self Test of the HDD. Surely it will solve your issue.

Otherwise it will be the issue of motherboard.

Will not boot. Hard drive failure

Hi,
Disconnect the hard drive and reconnect again.
Run a DPS self test of the hard drive:-

On the start page,press F10,select language and enter.

Move on to the storage option and select run self test]If it fails the test,then you may have to format.

hi there the 8 pin ic in question is a Viper22a available from good electronic stores i got mine from
Cricklewood electronics for a couple of quid , also replace the capacitor c72 47uf

Ok let me try to give my idea,

Are you familiar of running it in DOS(if your OS is windows). Try to boot in cdrom using DOS. Then try to access your harddrive using the command prompt. Make some browsing up to third degree folder. If you can browse. Then probably your HD is good could be data corruption that's why you can't pass even in the safe mode. Then your options are repair, restore, or reinstalled depends on the features of your unit.
