Exterior glass trim on Kenmore Electric Range 880-5981
How do you re-install the exterior glass trim on the door of the Kenmore Electric Range 880-5981. We took the exterior glass, the door handle and trim off to clean up a spill that went into the door in-between the exterior glass trim and the front of the interior glass of the oven door. Now we can't put them back
Re: Exterior glass trim on Kenmore Electric Range...
While waiting for someone else to answer my question, I fiddled around with the door parts. I managed to reassemble them! Here's how:
1. start with the glass panel. Slide the glass panel into the slot at the bottom of the front door frame on the stove.
2. next attach the handle. There are slots on the bottom of the handle that fit into the top of the glass panel. Slide the handle slots into the top of the glass panel.
3. screw the handle onto the oven door using the predrilled holes on the inside face of the oven door.
4. last, attach each of the two side trim strips. Slide the top of each strip into the bottom of the handle on each side of the oven door. Then slightly bend the strip outwards so that they are short enough to fit into the bottom slot of the oven door frame on each side of the glass panel.

Exterior or interior? If they are on the exterior then something unassociated with the oven has caused them. If they are between sheets of glass then could be silacone fume residue or if it has a clear plastic filter on the inside of the glass, could be that. If they happen to use laminated glass, it could be the plastic middle but I doubt they would. Radiation leaking from microwave ovens is really a bit of a myth. Yes, if you have a damaged seal and there is a big enough gap, microwave radiation can leak out but unless you are hugging your oven, it's no real drama, according to current medical experts.

Check the next procedure to Power Mirrors... Diagnosis &
Testing The exterior mirror control switch receives power
through circuit SBP12 (GN/RD) and ground through circuit GD143 (BK/VT).
The exterior mirror control switch uses circuit CPM23 (GY) as the common
circuit for both exterior mirror up/down and right/left movement.
Possible Causes:
Fuse 12 (7.5A) (SJB)
An open in circuits CPM23 (GY), SBP12 (GN/RD) or GD143 (BK/VT
A short to ground in circuit CPM23 (GY)
A short to voltage in circuit CPM23 (GY)
Exterior mirror control switch.
Checking the voltage at the mirror switch:
Key in OFF position.
Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C527.
Key in ON position.
Measure the voltage between ground and exterior mirror control
switch C527-1, circuit SBP12 (GN/RD).
Voltage should be greater than 10 volts.
If voltage is greater than 10 volts, check that fuse 12 (7.5A) is
OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit SBP12 (GN/RD) for an open.
Exterior Mirror Motor Synchronization
NOTE
This procedure must be performed any time the power folding
mirrors are manually folded in or out, or if the position of the mirror
case has been moved without using the mirror control switch.
NOTE
If the power folding mirrors are folded or unfolded continuously
(6 to 10 cycles), the power lockout feature will disable the system for 2
minutes to prevent damage to the power fold motors. After 2 minutes
have elapsed, normal operation will resume.
Set the mirror control switch to the CENTER position.
Use the mirror control switch (press rearward) to automatically
cycle the power folding mirrors in and out 4 times.
When an audible popping sound is heard, the power folding mirror
motors are synchronized.
NOTE
It may be necessary to cycle the power folding mirrors in or out
up to 4 times before they are synchronized.
Removal & Installation Motor
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
NOTE
If equipped with power folding mirrors, they must be synchronized
any time the mirrors have been folded or unfolded without using the
mirror control switch. Refer to synchronization procedure.
Position the exterior mirror glass in a downward position to
obtain a gap at the edge of the mirror.
CAUTION
Place a shop towel between the exterior mirror glass and the hand
to avoid personal injury in the instance of glass breakage.
Insert a flat-blade screwdriver between the mirror glass tabs and
the mounting plate, and rotate to separate the locking tabs from the
mounting plate.
Carefully pull the top edge of the glass away from the exterior
mirror housing.

It is simple enough not to need a manual.
1- open the door, then pull outwards. The door mounts slide right out.
2- lay flat on a towel on the floor. Remove screws on the inside of the door.
3- remove each piece and layer of the door and glass panels. Set them aside in order so you know how it goes back together
4- replace broken inner glass panel
5- put each piece back together, install screws
6- slide door (mounts) back into their homes on the front of the range
It is surprisingly simple. All you need is a #2 Phillips screwdriver and a bit of patience.
Tip: make sure to clean each glass panel while you have the door apart. Use a razor blade for those stubborn burnt on stains.
