LIGHT ENGINE REPLACED

I JUST SPENT $800 TO HAVE THE LIGHT ENGINE REPLACED ON MY 2 YR OLD 52725 DLP. WHEN THE SERVICE MAN BROUGHT THE TV BACK, I BEGAN HEARING A FAN RUNNING WHEN THE TV WAS OFF. NEVER HEARING THAT BEFORE, I CALLED THE SERVICEMAN BACK AND ASKED HIM ABOUT IT. HE SAID IT IS NORMAL. NOT CONVINCED OF HIS ANSWER, I CALLED MITSUBISHI-INDIA TECH SUPPORT AND THE LADY THERE SAID THE SAME THING. DO ANY CURRENT OWNERS OF THIS MODEL CONCURE? IF THIS IS THE CASE, MY SUSPICION IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHT ENGINE WAS SOMEHOW CAUSED BY THE NON OPERATING FAN. CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS.

Yes. It is normal for the fan to run for few minutes even after the TV is shutoff to cool of the lamp.

NEED TO KNW HOW TO REPLACE NO 2 FAN ON A SAMSUNG DLP TV HL-S50786W

Hi,

Here is Fan part# BP31-00024A. Search google, find it at various places.

Light engine assembly has to be removed. This involves unplugging various connectors between processing/control chassis on the left side and engine assembly on the right side. Mounting screws on the top and bottom of engine assembly. Then remove light engine assembly completely from the TV. Fan#2 is the lamp cooling fan and is located beside the lamp assembly.

It is not too complicated if you draw a picture of where all the plugs are removed from. If one plug is not put back correctly, unit will not work. Usually a tight fight sliding out the engine. Plastic cable tie-down between the 2 assemblies can be cut and discarded, this makes re-installing light engine considerably easier.

Cheat the cabinet safety switch with tape or stretch connecting wire across it to hold it in "on" position for test after reassembly.

Service cost may be $150-$200 if you don't do it yourself. We do it in most Canada cities.

TV has little stars, and cuts off automatically

Go to the Samsung website, find your model under the search function, and click on one of the returned links. Once there, you should see a link that says "Featured Accessories". Click on that and you will go to the Authorized Samsung parts site, where you can find the EXACT cost of the parts needed. Hope this helps. Mine went out, and it was only $65.

Mitsubishi DLP overheating

Mitsubishi has problems with the thermal sensor going bad. They extended the warranty for several sets. The sensor is right by the lamp. Call mitsubishi and insist they do something for you. If you keep playing your set, the bulb could also be at risk. I would think your set is covered being a 62" set. Good-luck and be sure to act ASAP.

No picture and i replaced the bulb

Joe,
I've never heard of a color wheel costing that much even with labor included - I think I'd try to find another tech for his advice.. If you have trouble locating one try NESDA or let me know what city/state you're in and maybe I can help recommend someone.
That said, if the lamp is good the next logical thing to check is the ballast. If the ballast is not supplying voltage to the lamp then it clearly won't light. A ballast is not that expensive, similar to a ballast in a floresent light - only a bit more complex. In any event I would strongly suggest finding a real professional first we are out there...

Sound but no picture on my HD-52725 (slightly over 1 yr old). The TV menu DOES come up but other than that, it's just a blank screen. I replaced the lamp about 3 weeks ago. It was working fine yesterday...

The new bulb that went bad I purchased for less than $130.00 from http://www.Discount-Merchant.com/ . When I called them they immediatly sent me a new bulb free. Their number is 1-619-710-2637. A very good coumpany to do business with. They are also considering selling ballast for dlp TV's for around $200.00. The TV repair place that I have been going to told me that maybe the ballast made the bulb go out and it would cost between $600.00 and 800.00 to have them fix it. My TV is a Mitsubishi WD52725. dodger1
