Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have recently been getting a vertical line from the 3ebk cartridge only & only on printing (not a glass cleaning issue on fax/scan/copy). i have run numerous cleaning, head alignments & roller cleaning to no avail - any ideas???
Not sure if this will help but there is a small glass panel to the left of your flatbed scanner- this must be clean or else I get a black vertical line in my printing.

There are a number of issues that cause vertical lines in printing. If you have cleaned all the glass panels and roller, the next primary cause is a blocked printhead but people have success cleaning and refilling cartidges as I do. How old is the cartridge, as they do eventually wear out due to the printhead points wearing out(hold the cartridge to the light and look on the printhead, do the points appear scratched or white dots? This indicates replacement. How much ink is left? When black ink is low but not low enough to show a message, sometimes vertical lines can appear. Try checking ink status, or try refilling ink if you know how. If this issue reoccurs with a new cartridge it more than likely could be the printers printhead and not the cartridge. Cartridges can become clogged if not printed with for a while. Try standing the cartridge on newspaper for a while. Blot it dry and retry it.

Very sorry for you. I know how frustrating printers can be. Did you say you have actually cleaned the printers printheads itself, down inside where the cartrige sits, or just the cartridge. If the machine is malfunctioning you usually get some sort of error message when you try and print. Do you get error messages. Have you tried uninstalling the whole printer and reinstalling with original drivers disk that came with it. Also I read that canon pixmas can develop issues when connected to high speed usb ports (2.0) have you got it connected to one of these or changed its connection recently. Spyware can effect drivers, do you think you may have gotten spyware. If so, run antispyware program and antivirus. Also th euninstall and reinstall of drivers may help.Sometimes a system restore can help too. Printer issues can be entwined in other pc related issues. Hope this helps. Lastly you may just be right and the printhead may need replacing.

thanks but as i mentioned - it was not a glass cleaning issue - my thoughts are print head unfortunately.
thanks anyway
thanks lilacgerry but no go, i only use genuine new cartridges (never refills) and lines occur 100% of times from 3eBK cartridge only regardless of how much ink is left. am comeing more to the conclusion that it is a printer printhead issue as the actual cartridge has been changed numerous times along with every clean possible to no improvement
I already asked this and you responded but I lost response before I viewed it - sorry! Scanning is no longer available as on option on my Canon MX452. When I open up the printer on my PC, it says, "printing, copying, faxing" only - "scanning" is not offered.
