Hi. My Acer monitor AL2216W goes black just seconds after turning on. It's still on. Indicator light is green not amber or off. I keep it updated. It's a 2007. My pc a 2008 Del. Suggestions?

well you can test the monitor an any PC made, to see if the problem is the monitor .
easy no? just one simple test. I guess a VGA cable.
That old monitor uses CCFL back lamps. that most at dead now.
after 10 years of service they are DEAD. most are. now.
Green means not sleeping.
when PC goes offline the Monitor tells you ,
lost signal, going to sleep, no sync, or out of range.
all monitors made 2000 to now do that. every one.
the OSD dead. test.
so when you turn the monitor on , and push menu button
in under 5 seconds, does the monitor show the OSD screen.?
it will do that even if PC is turned off.

The OSD is the tiny brain in the monitor. on screen display.
if you test the monitor with a flash light when it goes black with
PC on.
and you see data, that means the CCLF are dead.
the do that, all do this now. dead, intermittent, stobes, or yellow for white screens. all do that at 20,000 hours. used.

click flashlight link here.

value if the monitor is $20 working , or $5 not.
so repairs are not all that econ101 giving this fact.

Why does my monitor HP L1740 post a picture for a few seconds and then shuts off. only py turning the monitor off and on manualy it posts again but for only a few seconds. i have it opened up already.

if the monitor fails on 2 PCs the monitor has hardware issues, does it?
costs not a dime to plug it into friends PC with vga cable.
you said IT Shuts off,? does that mean.
the power button, has 3 colors, led status
off black led.
on green led.
amber led, sleep.
is it light going out?
or just a screen black,
if just screen black does OSD work on demand
yes, no?
if yes the monitor is not dead.(not totally)
if no it is dead.

seems your PSU board inside if bad, if the monitor goes dead.
Old monitors 2000-2007 had sleep timer.
disable that junk now.

seems it is a bad monitor, but id have to see it
and do many tests to condemn it.
Most of these monitors died long ago.
CCFL deathh(sic).
The first ones made in 2005 so is 13 years old.
Nevers seen one this old good.
CCFL failures are classic and super COMMMON.:
dead,
blinking (strobing effects)
yellow for white screens
dim

Screen won't turn on

You can try to do the monitor self test.
Monitor Self Test:
1. Physically test the monitor autonomously from the computer.2. Switch both the monitor and the computer off, and then disconnect the VGA cable le from the computer.3. Turn the monitor on, pressing the power button for about three seconds. The self-test screen will come up .4. If the image is clear, bright, and shows red, green, and blue, the monitor is working properly. Video issues may be due to the video resolution in the computer, and not the monitor.5. If the image is not apparent and intense or the colors are not accurate, then the trouble is with the monitor or some of the (OSD) settings. In this case, test your particular monitor's information for OSD.
It is always important to check the color of your power light for so you can distinguish if the monitor is defective. Getting red lights on the the power panel states that the power section of the monitor is faulty.

My computer monitor is a black screen....the light is lit solid green and I can hear the software playing just no picture

If the light is green, I suspect that the backlight has gone out on you. This could also be caused by you having the brightness turned all the way down.

Gateway FPD1750 monitor's keep go black screen, no picture at al

tgordon60, If you know how those NEW "CURLIE-Q" energy efficient CFL light bulbs produce WHITE LIGHT, then you will know what makes an LCD display panel produce all the pretty colors and the WHITE BACKGROUND of the FIXYA web page!!! Only difference is that your "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" are thinner and straight, and hung on rear of LCD glass panel and have a DC to AC electronic ballast called an "INVERTER" circuit to produce 600 to 1000vac to light them up. Get to my FIXYA profile and read my responses to other BLACK screen lcd owners to learn about all your options for repair. Follow any of the links to other web pages you find there. Your monitor not any different than ACER, DELL, VIEWSONIC, BENQ, SONY, AOC!!!!! 12fixlouie aka louie12fix

Monitor Not Showing A Picture. Light flashes Yellow and Green.

use the onboard graphics instead of a seperate graphics card (if installed) to test the screen.if it still doesn't work then unplug your monitor from the mains supply and plug in again to reset it. i doubt it's your monitor that is the problem though. but look on the back of your pc for another connection for your screen. the onboard graphics connection is normally vertical near your ethernet port and mouse and keyboard inputs.

please rate me and give me a fixya! if it helped.
