I'd suggest you - first thing first - to make sure your TomTom device is getting the proper signal. Maybe in the area where you've tested it are too many tall buildings or too strong magnetic fields. So I'd say to get your device in a park or even outside the city/town limits and to retry to acquire the satellites signal.
If you will have the same result that will lead to the opinion that the GPS receiver itself it's damaged and must be replaced.
If your device is still under a warranty terms & conditions - then take it back to the dealer and ask for a total replacement or for a total refund. DON'T TRY TO FIX BY YOURSELF THE GPS RECEIVER! It's too fragile and maybe you will end up with a useless device...!
Anyway - before any attempt make sure your TomTom battery IS FULLY CHARGED!

First you have to Set your GPS On the right Satellite Like Mangella GPS signal ...Look in the Manual or Downlod It From The Net Like Exemple...... (download Nextar M3 GPS Manual Utility, Then chose the one will Guide your to the right position USA Or CANADA Position accroding your Street Name, Good Luck.....

The only thing you can try is the external antenna for this unit.

You could be in an area that has poor signal.

If it where me, I would go to a place that I could return a unit,
I only use garmin, there hand-held unit's are the top rated for
the frequency of getting satellites.

So say you have a walmart, see if you can return a unit, buy a garmin
and see if it get better reception, and if it doesn't then its not the unit.

If it does,sell you old one on ebay.

I can't solve this. But it is happening to me, too. I probably know about as much about the satellite systems as you do. I've got an older aviation GPS I have not tried, yet. Did nextar indicate what Satellite was down and why the GPS would not acquire a different satellite.

You are facing this problem because of the US GPS Satellite because there's a sudden change with the code signal which leads to GPS signal anomalies.
Even though you've traded it. the problem is still there.
It's better to go with another brand or model.
As this problem cannot be fixed with this unit.
