I HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH MY PC AS WELL..... I HAVE THE SAME ONE. WHEN YOU USE HIGH CPU APPLICATIONS, YOUR FAN ACCUMULATES LOTS OF DUST IN IT, WHEN THE FAN GETS BLOCKED UP, YOUR PROCESSER DOESNT COOL DOWN, TRY TAKING THE FAN OUT AND THE METAL PART, AND CLEANING IT OUT, BUT DONT TAKE OFF THE WHITE PASTE... JUST TAKE OFF THE DUST FROM THE FAN, THAT SHOULD COOL DOWN YOUR PC AND IT SHOULD STOP RUNNING AT HIGH RPM'S.. FYI... THE FAN IS ALWAYS RUNNING

I have not known of any fans cutting off. In PC's the air flow has to be continous, otrherwise parts will burn out cause of the heat buildup. If parts burn up, you'll will have more headaches then you thought off cause of the damage it will do. If the fan is run by a thermostat it will shut off. But I have not that type of fan in PC's yet. In todays pc, the technology is changing all the time and parts being used use generate more heat. MLB

I think your pc is overheating.

The fan and the cooling element, must be cleaned.
The pc shuts off, when the cpu max temperature is reached.

The fan and the cooling element, probably looks like this:

A pc repair shop, can help with the problem.
Or try to blow it out with compressed air.
You just have to make sure, the fan is running when the job is done.

Good luck

Hp pavillion dv4000 keeps shutting off

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

Reboot happens only when U are connected online?
Hint: There might be a spyware or adaware.
Try downloading: Lavasoft.com the free version and clean u-r pc.
Or any other: System Suite, Fix-it Utilities, System Mechanic, etc.
Personal choice: I would reinstall the O.S.

A warranty is a contract between the Buyer (You) and the Seller (Retailer, Wholesaler, or Manufacturer/Hewlett Packard?). If you don't have a copy of your warranty, then you'll have to contact (Via phone, mail, or website) Hewlett Packard or whomever your warranty is with, and with your model and serial number you should be able to find out the date you request.

Good luck.
