Check your printer properties box to make sure the paper source tray box is set to auto select, also in order to "program" auto select in the printer menu you need to select the enter key and then the "aito select" should then have an asterik next to it, meaning that the "auto select" is now the default.

Ricoh Aficio AP410N printer won't print on tray 1. Paper feeds through but no print on it. Tray 2 is fine???

Here are a couple of notes I found on the printer:

  • Before printing on paper other than envelopes, make sure that the levers inside the rear cover are pulled up. Leaving the levers lowered can cause print quality problems when printing on paper other than envelopes.
  • If you set [Paper source tray:] to [Auto Tray Select] on the [Setup] tab in the printer properties dialog box, the machine selects the tray automatically. (I imagine you'd have to enter printer Properties or Settings and choose a tray there.)

Check printer E-02-01 error

Your paper tray 1 paper lift motor is broken. You can still make copies from the bypass feed on the side. Switch machine of, open tray 1 slightly and load paper into bypass feed on the side of the machine. Remember to select the bypass as paper source by using the buttons under the screen or the properties of the printer driver. This is only a temporary solution, and you should contact your service centre for a replacement of the paper lift motor

Even though my printer settings are set to print and use the paper in tray 1 - the printer wants to pull from the bypass tray (which always pulls crooked). The printer used to work just fine then the alert...

Two things to check for a problem like this:
1) Driver Settings:
If your computer's drivers are telling the machine to pull from the bypass tray it'll ignore the machine settings. You're kind of on your own here figuring it out, if you can't though then try deleting the printer from the computer and re-installing it (will default settings)

2) Manual Feed sensor:
When you put paper into the bypass try you're activating a flag which tells a sensor there's paper there, if this flag is stuck forcing the sensor to constantly think you have paper there it would always to pull from there. Find the flag, move it back and forth, hit it with some air from a can of air.

Trying to print but it ask me to load paper or form feed. also got a bypass tray message.

Sound like the computer printer preferences "paper source" is set to bypass if set to "auto select" select the tray you want. Also make sure type of paper matches what is in printer.

Ricoh/Aficio SP C410DN Tray priority switches on its own

It is pulling paper from the tray specified within the application you are printing from or the driver. For example, from Microsoft word, you would have to go into page setup and select the tray you would like it to pull from. You will also want to check which tray it is pulling from in the driver, however the application generally overrides the driver settings. Both of which override anything you program at the machine.

Can't print onto thick card

Have you tried specifying the paper type and weight INSTEAD of the tray. Set the tray properties first, then print. If you leave it on auto tray it will use the tray that matches your paper type and weight.
