My TV, 3 years old which had lamp replaced about 2 years ago started to act weird. Couple of weeks ago out of nowhere it shut itself off, no picture, no sound red and green lights off. 15 minutes later it turns on by itself... after 2-3 hours of working it did it again. After couple of days the intervals changed, it got worse. At first when I turn it on, it stays on for about an hour, shuts off for 10-15 minutes, comes back on, stays on 25-35 minutes, shuts off for 10-15 and it keeps doing it all the time-25-35 minutes on-10-15 off... I called service people under the extended warranty, they said over the phone that it was the lamp and it is not covered so they want to change the lamp even though I know last time when it was the lamp TV was turning blue and it wasn't shutting off completely, just the picture... Can you help, please...
The problem may be due to dry soldering in the power supply stage if it was with the lamp there would be red or green light showing the presence of the power to the tv after making it own some of the components get hot and it will make the the soldering point conectionless and after some time the heat sink get cooled and the soldering point gets connected and u will see the picture again it is a simple problem if u have a soldering iron u make it hot and re solder all the components in the first part of the circuit board and the problem if rectified

I did exactly what you suggested, resoldered all the connections in the first part of the board, but there is no change in behavior. What else could it be?
