Shutting off and on...

My TV, 3 years old which had lamp replaced about 2 years ago started to act weird. Couple of weeks ago out of nowhere it shut itself off, no picture, no sound red and green lights off. 15 minutes later it turns on by itself... after 2-3 hours of working it did it again. After couple of days the intervals changed, it got worse. At first when I turn it on, it stays on for about an hour, shuts off for 10-15 minutes, comes back on, stays on 25-35 minutes, shuts off for 10-15 and it keeps doing it all the time-25-35 minutes on-10-15 off... I called service people under the extended warranty, they said over the phone that it was the lamp and it is not covered so they want to change the lamp even though I know last time when it was the lamp TV was turning blue and it wasn't shutting off completely, just the picture... Can you help, please...

I did exactly what you suggested, resoldered all the connections in the first part of the board, but there is no change in behavior. What else could it be?

The problem may be due to dry soldering in the power supply stage if it was with the lamp there would be red or green light showing the presence of the power to the tv after making it own some of the components get hot and it will make the the soldering point conectionless and after some time the heat sink get cooled and the soldering point gets connected and u will see the picture again it is a simple problem if u have a soldering iron u make it hot and re solder all the components in the first part of the circuit board and the problem if rectified

I have a Samsung DLP HLS 5086 W that is shutting down after a couple of minutes. The color wheel and lamp were both replaced a little over a year ago. The lamp is a Phillips, and the color wheel is OEM. I...

Hope this helps:

Resetting the counter Once you have installed your OEM replacement lamp, resetting the counter is a very simple procedure:
• Begin with the TV powered off.
• Point your remote towards your TV.
• Press:
• Menu + 1 + 8 + 2 + Power.
• Your TV set should now say "Loading Factory".
• Browse down to "Option" then press Enter (or the right cursor button).
To exit the service menu, hit press the EXIT button or just turn off your TV (remember not to turn on your TV immediately afterward!).
NOTE: The Mute+1+8+2 buttons needs to be pressed down consecutively and fairly quickly. If your TV does not enter the service menu after using this combination, you can substitute MENU instead of MUTE. This seems to work for some sets. Also, the right cursor arrow also acts as the ENTER button, so try it if you're having difficulty with the ENTER button.

TV shutting down, lamp and power light blinking

I would try a new lamp. Lamps have varying qualities & usage conditions may cause varying life spans. So, even though the lamp may be 1 year old I would try a new one first.

The TV keeps shutting off, then shortly after turns back on, then shuts off again... Plugging the cord into a different wall outlet doesn't solve the problem. Please help! Thank you

I'm having the same problem. My TV will play for for awhile and then it just dims down for about 1 to 2 minutes then powers up again. The green light stays on doesn't blink at all, and there is no red light that comes on or blinks like when our lamp went out. We replaced the lamp about 6 months ago and it's been working great until this week.

Samsung tv is shutting off all the time.

Do you have enough air flow to cool it?
It may be overheating....add a fan blowing into it and see if that keeps it on.If it does put a strong small computer fan in somewhere to keep it cool.

Tv shutting off then comes on

your lamp is going out, they last around 2 years, on the average, this is easily replaced by you, door is on the right side of the tv, you can take the lamp out, if it has a bubble on it, it is getting ready to go out
