in my printer brother mfc-7340 when i coping with machine after some time display will show print unable with error code 72 what i will do? plse tell me;
A recent (Dec 2015) Windows 10 update seems to have removed the access required for the service account used by Brother to write to the hard drive. This fixed the scan function for me...
Navigate to the directory where you write the files (C:\Users\YourID\Pictures\ControlCenter3)
Right click on the Scan directory and open Properties.
Did you ever get a resolution to your problem? I have exactly the same problem with same error message - and very loud clicking noises coming from the scanner. Powering it down - allowing it to "cool" for 5 minutes will get probably 1 or 2 documents through the scanner before the error message reappears. But this is only a workaround rather than a solution.
Remove the TWAIN software and reinstall it. Best if you can use the add/remove software in the control panel. You might want to look in the Device Manager for the USB entry that controls the device and remove that. If you find it open with an error, definitely remove that entry.
You might want to check with Brother to see if they have a updated driver for your 5840.
To use the scan features, the HP All-in-One and computer must be connected and turned on. The HP Photosmart Software must also be installed and running on your computer prior to scanning. To verify that the HP PhotosmartSoftware is running on a Windows computer, look for the HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon in the system tray at the lower right side of the screen, near the time.
NOTE: Closing the HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon in the Windows system tray can cause the HP All-in-One to lose some of its scan functionality. If this happens, you can restore full functionality by restarting your computeror by starting the HP Photosmart Software.
Try going to CanoScan Toolbox > Settings and reset the 'defaults' button at bottom... this will restore factory settings and hopefully fix your problem... The other error message you can expect to get is "unable to scan - insufficent memory, check your **** space' (or something similar)... same fix works for both! ...Have had both messages on mine, sounds like a semi-regular conflict on some sort, but seems to be easily fixed. Good luck :-)
