This is actually for an SRT4127W. For awhile now, after turning on my Sylvania 27" television, it will work perfectly for anywhere from 10min-2hrs. Usually it will work for about 45min. Then it will inexplicably turn off.
It won't turn back on immediately. Hitting the power button on both the remote and the front of the TV causes a clicking noise like it will turn on, but never does, and just stays off. It wont turn on for awhile. It takes anywhere from 45min to a couple of days for it to work again. Any ideas??
Also, smacking it around seems to help...lol. If i hit the sides a bit, sometimes it will turn back on. Any suggestions?
I have taken the back off of the television, the only fuse i have seen seems to be fine, and all connections/plugs seem to be firmly connected.
also, if i leave the tv unplugged for awhile (hour+) then plug it back in, it will turn on immediately, without me pressing power.also, if i leave the tv unplugged for awhile (hour+) then plug it back in, it will turn on immediately, without me pressing power.

Just keep smack'in it around, it works for me.
It is the 'protection overload circuit' taking over and shutting the TV set off. This is because it detected a short or near-short circuit somewhere. Most common is high voltage, deflection amplifiers and main power supply. It's pretty much a common fix for an experienced tv repairman. It might set me back in the ballpark of $200 - $300.

Go to the TV setup menu and look for the V-Chip settings. Turn it off altogether or if you have children you may want to just raise the block up to MA, R, or X rated programs
Not economically. The ticking sound is a sure sign of high-voltage shutdown, and is coming from your flyback transformer - the most expensive part in the TV besides the picture tube. Even if it's not the flyback, troubleshooting the high voltage section is usually more than the cost of a new TV.
I tried to unplug mine for awhile then plug it back in that worked for awhile now it won't come at all. Hope this helps abit, although i'm sure your like me and have tried it all,8)
