Deflection board Repairman sent deflection board off to have rebuilt for $475 plus his time. Been two weeks and still at least week to go before he gets part back. I want to know how much a new deflection board is and if it would have been easier to get a new one and be done in a few days. I really want to know if this guy is trying to rip me off.

Is $475 sound right, and would a new one be a better or worse idea?

Turn around at the two large facilities is about 10 to 15 days, be patient for a few more days, then ask the tech for the phone number of the rebuild center. Either TRI-STATE or PTS Electronics. Both are in Indiana.

Getting sound and no picture. had a tv repairman out said it was a the main board (can't remember exactly what he called it) said it would be close to $700 to repair which is almost what i paid for it. ...

Thats a deflection problem which indicates the Deflection board is the problem. You should be able to get a replacement board or your board rebuilt from www.tvrepairworld.com boards are very easy to replace.

If you can solder i can help you fix it yourself ! On Deflection board there is 3 capacitors cp150 2200uf 16v if it is puffed up on top it is Bad other 2 220uf 35v cp114,cp120 they are green with gold writing on them Deflection board is First board to left on bottom/ board to right is SSB board this has your turners on it. Also CK second ribbon connector that connects from deflection to SSb board. Id say its Bad Capacitors on deflection board. Sony Handycam CCD-F77 won't power up

Sony F77's are known for bad power supply circuit boards. I have one that powers up enough to eject or insert a tape but will do nothing else. Recently I took it to a repair shop. Paid $30 to have it diagnosed but elected not to pay the extra $164-$215 to have the board rebuilt.

It is difficult to find people who will even diagnose these old camcorders, but the repairman said the shops that rebuild the boards get 10-15 a week because people really like the high quality of this particular model. I paid over $1500 for mine in 1983 or so and may yet decide to have it rebuilt.

The repair shop I took mine to is Westronix in Salem, Oregon.

sammy jo ,you burnt the tubes by leaving it on with a vertical collaspe faultmnow you have three damaged tubes,i also think that you also have a bad yoke which is taking out the new parts ,the cost is within reason, the shop repair is to insprct it deeped for possible other faults and damage already done.

No Picture

I took mine out and sent it to PTS Corp. They fixed it and had it back to me in about a week. Cost about $115.
