How do i adjust the drivers side back drum brake on a 1999 dodge ram 1500
Hi most of the drum brakes that I have worked on in the past have a square adjuster on the back of the drum(some have 1 some have two)so first of all you need to jack the back wheele up off the floor(loosen wheele nuts first)then put axle stand under car,now look at the back of the drum there should be a square adjuster at the bottom if you turn it clock wise the brake shoe will start to stop the drum, when the drum stops then gently turn spanner anti clock wise untill drum just moves around freely without binding, then just check that there is not another adjuster at the top of the drum,if there is do the same as you did to the bottom adjuster, if there is not another adjuster then the job is done.(when you have wheele off also check the drum for eney brake fluied leeks).
I hope this was some help all the best.
thanks for your comments but i bought the machine out of the paper so i dont have any paperwork for it.
