PowerPoint and Projector (InFocus LP640) Incompatability
I have a Sony Vaio with Windows XPsp2 and PowerPoint 2003. When I try to hook up the laptop to the LP640 projector it will work momentarily but then automatically reboots the computer. It will just continue through this loop of working for a few slides...rebooting...working...etc.
Is this a PowerPoint issue, a Vaio issue or a projector issue? Any solution/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I am unsure of this from your post, but don't try to hook the projector up to the laptop while either one of them is on. Power both the laptop and the projector off, hook up the projector to the laptop, then power on the projector first then the laptop. If you are already doing this, I apologize for stating the obvious.

Insert one end of the VGA cable into your Sony Vaio. This is located on the left side of your computer. 2
Turn off the Infocus projector before connecting the opposite end of the VGA cable into the projector. The VGA input slot is located in the back of the projector. 3
Turn on the projector and allow time for it warm up. 4
Change the video output source on your computer to display through the projector. Press the "Windows" button and then "LCD/CRT" button on your Vaio keyboard to change the display source. On a Sony Vaio, the "LCD/CRT" button is usually "F7." 5
Focus the projector to most effectively display content from your computer. You can manually focus the projector or press the "Auto focus" button on the top of the projector.
You have to tell the computer you hooked up an additional external monitor. Lower left on the keyboard you will see a "FN" key. Across the top, your F keys...look for an icon that looks like a monitor. Usually F5, F7 or F8. Hold down the FN key and select the F5 etc key which is the command to display the image through the external port. Doing this once displays image through the projector and laptop. Twice displays image to projector only and three times returns to display only on laptop again.
Hello, The LP640 will NOT down-convert 1080p 1080i is the max it can down-convert.
As far as the DIGI input, it is not DVI... It's a proprietary InFocus format they call M1-D P&D and is NOT HDCP compatible. I have several LP640 manuals, some quite old and none of them claim that 1080p is a valid resolution. interesting that your manual says it is... very odd indeed.
