We have a fitted Bosch oven with retractable function selector. When cleaning the outside of the oven, the knob was pushed in and now we don't seem to be able to get it to come out again. It seems well and truly stuck!

Re:
Problem is caused by the sprung mechanism within the control knob sticking remove the knob completly, try to squeeze together in your hand to release and then spray with a wd40 type product, if this fails you will need to replace the knob, the knob only pulls off.

To turn on the oven, press the recessed On/Off button on the left below the rotary selector knob. Make sure that the system lock is off. (The display will show S 1 if it is on.) Press and release the function selector and rotary selector knobs if they are retracted. Rotate the function selector to the desired function icon (line up the dot). Then turn the selector knob to select the oven temperature. Press OK to start cooking.
there is a selector knob on the side that controls the tool functions for drill only/hammer with drill/ and hammer only. make sure it is in the proper setting. If it still doesn't rotate then you have a gear or a broken selector. If no hammer then you have worn o rings or a stuck ram. try the selector first and if still no change please be more specific if no hammer at all, or no rotation even when selector moved.
In order for the element to stay on, the oven switch must be broken. No details are provided, but if your oven is like most, you have an Oven Selector knob for ~bake, broil, clean and another knob for Temperature selection.
Look at your Oven Selector knob closely to make sure it is not slipping on the shaft. It may be as simple as the knob being broken, and even though you are turning it to the Off position, the switch may still be on. If the knob is indeed turning the switch shaft, then it is most likely the switch stuck in the own position. Thanks for using FixYa.
Hello,
1. Turn the clock selector knob to OFF
2. Tweak the oven control by turning the clock selector knob slightly to the left (counter clockwise).
This may stop the popping message.
Thanks
Hello,
Most of the temp. & select knobs do extend out, but not automatically. If you push the knob inward and release, they should individually "pop" extend out to allow them easier to function. As I indicated this is how most modern bosch work, with the acception of some models. Please provide your actual model number if you require further help.
Hope that answer's you question, let me know if I can assist you further.
Good luck, please rate this solution accordingly and thanks for coming to "fixya".
Macmarkus :)
facia panel most probably need removed, not to bad a job, but oven need to come out...
go to bosch, web site...search parts finder with your model , and you will see an exploded diagram, this may help yet you get an idea on how it comes apart..
failing that call an engineer...
