I've tried numerous times and and hadno luck. So Much for Canons web site. I've reformatted my hard drive so no driver is on to be removed prior to installing this one.
the scanner is selected as the system scanner, devices shows it works OK, the driver is up to date but all picture programs fail to recogise it as an input device - 4 only are listed and all are flash drives
I have recently acquired a CanoScan N650U. The install CD did not come with it. I spent half a day trying to get it to work on Windows XP using all the tips I found on this thread. I finally gave up and later in the evening I configured it on Ubuntu/Linux (8.04.1, Hardy Heron) in ten minutes and it works just fine. I use Ubuntu for 99% of my computing and keep windows around for the few things that I haven't figured out to do yet. I also configured a canon printer almost as easily.
