Do both of your numarks make the same sound? what is the weird sound? The magnet is 1 piece, so I am not sure if it has come loose - very hard to come loose. Check to see if there is any debris inside the magnet/coil area. Sometimes staples, small metal items get stuck to the platter. Just lift the platter off the turntable, to expose the coil and the magnet. If all is clear, then you obviously have a more serious issue. However, you will have to be more detail in describing what kind of problem your having: - Does your turntable power on? - Does it sound weird when you press the play button or does it make a sound even when the platter is not rotating? - This happening to both turntables? - Did you buy these units new or used? - If used, do you know the history of the turntables? - Does it affect the speed or playing ability of the unit? - Do you use the unit on the road? Move it around? - Did this just start happening instantly, or was it something that just got louder over time? I know it's a lot of questions, but I need as much information as possible to properly source the problem via this limited method. - Justin DJPROAUDIO

After playing for 10-15 mins. My song that I am playing starts to slow down and sounds muggy. Then it saids, " calibrating failed, check needle and record'. I have the NUMARK CDX

I'm not certain what type of drive system this deck has but it sounds like it could be a direct drive. In which case it could be that after 15 minutes some kind of semiconductor is getting hot and playing up, so it effects the speed. An examination of the components might reveal a very hot IC or transistor. You could even try to spray it while the device is running and playing up, with Servisol Freezer Spray. If it returns to normal once the suspect part is sprayed, you have a faulty part. You must only spray one suspect part at a time, not allowing the spray to go on other parts, or you will get the wrong result. And if it has no effect, you must allow it to warm up again, before testing another part with the spray.

Examine the cantilever very carefully - you sure that the stylus is there? Not uncommon for the lever to be perfecto but the stylus is gone. So when you go to play a record the arm slides all over the place!

MAC Computer wont recognize Numark HDX when connected via USB.

Did you format your hard drives thru the menu on the deck? If not you may need to format the hard drives first and then plug them in. *NOTE DO NOT FORMAT DRIVES THRU YOUR COMPUTER* format the drives thru the decks in the utility menu.

These are direct drive turntables, so if your having speed issues, the problem is probably one of the drive circuits. Unfortunately, not an easy fix. So I suggest taking it to a service center for repair.

Both decks with same problem.

Nothing to do with the magnet. These are direct drive turntables, and more than likely one of the ICs shorted. Unusual that both shorted out at the same time, so the only thing I could suspect is a faulty power source - make sure all of your cables are free of any exposure to the inner power cable. Also, you might want to invest in a good surge protector (in the $150 range) to protect these babies... I know they aren't cheap. You will need to get them professionally serviced, there are no user replaceable parts inside. If you can't find anyone near you to service these, our company offers free return shipping for all Nationwide service, and if your in NYC, we offer free pick up. Oh, and we are masters with DJ turntables. Unfortunately, I don't think we can post our company information here, as I do not want to violate any agreements. So, with that said, do a search using the REPAIR SERVICE search option in FIXYA.com and go to the following section-> HOME AUDIO -> Audio Shelf Systems - we are listed there.
