Clean light on dishwasher won't stop flashing

I have a whirlpool dishwasher just over a year old and the clean light keeps flashing and I can't get the dishwasher to start, if I select the cancel button it runs for a couple of minutes but the clean light continues even with the door open or shut, all the buttons work if pushed but nothing happens.

I am having the same problem the dishwasher is not even a year old. The clean light keeps flashing and only when I hit the cancel button it keeps a noise and then shortly stops.

Flashing clean only means that the water didn't get hot enough at some point during the cycle. Are your dishes dry at the end? If not, it's the heater element, these will run you about $75.

If they are dry, then you're just not getting enough hot water into the washer. Make sure it's not connected to the cold water supply... (it happens)

You probably won't find that tech sheet. They stopped doing that years ago.

I had this same problem and had to have a tech out to look at it. It is a heater issue, but all he did was reset the dishwasher using the sequence mentioned above. What he told me was that the water temperature was not getting hot enough and suggested I run the hot water on my sink until its hot so the dishwasher immediately pulls senses water. The light came on the first time after about a year. It recently came on again and I reset the dishwasher again. Hopefully it won't happen for another year. BTW, I don't run the hot water at my sink and if I have to reset it once a year, so be it.

The flashing clean light is usually an indication of a problem (error code). There should be a tech sheet inside the lower kick panel under the door. The tech sheet will give you details on what to do to clear the problem and/or troubleshooting advice. The flashing clean light may also be in conjunction with other indicators on the front panel. When reading through the troubleshooting section pay close attention to see if there are any other indicators lit at the same time. This will narrow down the error to a specific problem. I wish I could be or more help, but there are several different models that indicate errors in the same manner and mean different things. I hope this may be of some help to you.

Push the following buttons in this order within 6 seconds:heated dry, normal, heated dry, normal. This will restart the dishwasher but you need to check the heater in the bottom.

The reset codes work but you might need to power cycle the dish washer. If you don't have a switch for it be sure you know what braker it is on.

Alternate solution: Within 6 seconds, alternately press "heated dry" then "normal" buttons. Wait for all lights to come on and for the diswasher to finish washing the load.

SOURCE: clean light flashes

You will have to reset the console. To do this, close the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

Clean light blinks on whirlpool dishwasher won't run

When the light flashes 7 times it means there is/was a problem with the hot water, including a bad heater element. Flip the breaker for a minute and hopefully that will clear the error; otherwise, here's a website that will take you through resetting it.

Dishwasher quits running and clean lite keeps flashing.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the clean light flashes, pauses, and then repeats. When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it stops working and locks the functions (clean light flashes, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash

-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

The "clean" button is flashing & none of the other cycles work.

heated dry and high temp wash
toggle till all the lights light up
then hit cancel
you should be able to turn dishwasher back on
you probably have a bad heater
is it flashing 7 times
take kick panel off and look to the rear of the dishwasher
is anything burned
if the clean light keeps blinking replace your heater

Whirlpool dishwasher

I had the same problem with mine awhile back. I tried clearing it out like the book said and it would start blinking again when I started it. Then it wouldn't do anything. Based on research, I decided to replace the heating element and that solved the problem. Of course, now a year later, I am having other problems.
