Replace IC Convergance chip in Panasonic PT-56HX41PF

I'm trying to replace the convergence chips in my Panasonic PT-56HX41PF, I need to take the board itself out to sauder the chips into place. There is a four white connector that is holding the two boards together, I do not want to force them out, they may break. Has anyone done this, if so can you please help?

Dave I have same problem with these connectors. Did you manage to get them undone? I also have a problem taking the anode wire out of the FTB.

Enter the tip of a pointed knife between the left side edges of the connector (circled in black in the attached pic) and gently tilt the knife away from the connector. Do the same on the right side. The connector should pop up.

Panasonic (PT-56HX41PF) rear-projection tv with no picture

The three blinks indicates a convergence IC fault. The convergence ICs must be replaced with the manufacturer replacement part. Use only the original replacement part. Your set uses STK392-110 convergence ICs.
These ICs are mounted on a large heat sink. Yes, you can replace it yourself and save few hundred bucks. But you must be knowledgeable enough on how to solder, resolder and use a multimeter.
You will need:
  1. Convergence ICs
  2. Heat sink grease or thermal compound
  3. Soldering iron
  4. Solder lead.
  5. Digital multimeter
  6. Solder pump
  7. Small side cutter
Feel free to inform me if you decide to replace the ICs yourself

Panasonic PT-47WX53 has intermittant convergance issue

I would chack the solder connections at the convergence ICs first. Since the set "recovers" on its own, it suggests a connection issue rather than a defective component. Also, if the ICs were installed without sufficient heat sink compound, this could happen as well. Look at low valued resistors in the area of the ICs for signs of overheating as well.

Keep us posted on your progress.

If you are talking about removing old ICs use a cap of Alcohol to pour on top to loosen. Or use needle nose plyers to pull from hole on top side of ic s.
