Question about Pioneer PRO-119 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Picture has no horizontal control or loud pop and no picture

Recently my PRO-119 has a new problem. At first the picture was fine then after several hours the picture would lose horizontal control or the set would make a loud popping sound and go black. For a while if the set was turned off and then back on the picture was fine for an undetermined amount of time. Eventually it would do the same thing over. The remote will not turn the set on or off now and if you turn the set on by the main power button it comes on with no horizontal or vertical control, just a wavey picture. Funny thing is the green light on the power button is red in the off position and green when the set is on.....USUALLY....But now when you use the main power button it comes on green and then gradually blinks and turns red but the picture keeps waving on. I have had problems with cracked welds on the component board and a high voltage issue in the past. HELP!

My son poured koolaid in my tv and the tv still has a red light on but wont turn on to show a picture what do i do or need to do???

Call a service tech to get a price quote or just purchase a new tv. It's not a good situation in any case, but since it was a liquid there could be several part issues with the t.v.

Pop - bang noise then went dead after a period of time

You've blown a capacitor and probably the horizontal output circuity. It's time to get a new LCD monitor.

The picture (screen) is fading.

You Need A new bulb, its going to pop any minute, you will literally hear a loud pop like smashing a lightbulb. Order one now online, cause it really sucks when you have to wait a week for a new bulb. There easy to install yourself, very simple. Calling a tv man would be a waste. You can fond a bulb online for around 90 to 150, anything over 150 is a rip off, look somewhere else.

I have a older model

You will need to replace both convergence ICs. This is a simple common repair for all projection TVs. If you would like I can post a link where you can order your ICs and they provide step by step instructions on how to remove the old and install the new ones.

Hitachi 51F510

The loud "pop" sounds like high voltage arcing coming from one of the CRT's.....you may have to pull each CRT out and put silicon sealant on the anode connectors to prevent the arcing.(one of the CRT's may be arcing internally also and the only cure is to replace that CRT) If you let the arcing continue,it will short out the horizontal output transistor sooner or later.......
