I've had my phone for about a year, and now the battery will only last for a few hours if i'm using any applications. I've tried the let it completely die and completely charge before turning it on thing, and that doesn't help. How much are new batteries, or should I just wait til July when i'm eligible for upgrade, and get a new phone?
SOURCE: help! thought battery was dead but...
try a master reset and clear all data on the phone......if that does not work have the phone's firmware reflash by taking it to a professional mobile store and getting it done there.
that should fixed you issues with the phone :)

I would inspect your connectors (both charger & phone) as well for dirt, debris, or damage.
I would also suggest using Motorola's wall chargers, the products seem to charge best with them rather than the after-market knock-offs which also seem to damage the phones connectors on some models.
If there is damage to your connector , you will need to get your phone serviced.

There is usualy no certain way to tell whats to blame on a bad phone without testing, but in your case I think that it is your phone that is malfunctioning. A low/bad battery either doesn't turn on or if it does it will at leat allow the phone to go on and then displays low battery before shutting off.
If you are out of warranty period, then you can easily flash this phone fo much cheaper than purchasing a new one. I would ecoment that you first take it o a repair place to be examined.

Let ur phone completely die. Don't charge it or anything when the low battery notice comes on. After it completely dies, put it on the charger only until it says charge complete. U might have to do it a few times to get ur battery performing as it should. If you charge ur battery too often, it causes ur battery to swell (weird I know) and your battery starts resisting charge. Hope this helps!! (I used to have the same phone and the same problem. I did this, and now my mom is using the phone and has an exceptional battery time)

Hey, my phone did the same thing, it ate something like 4 original motorola chargers. Long story short I got a charger off ebay that you plug in to the wall, remove your battery from the phone, and put it in the charger. Haven't had any trouble since. Oh, and yes the charger came with an extra battery so your phone isnt down at all, you might even say its better than a regular charger!
