Question about Acer ScanPrisa 640P Flatbed Scanner
I have an Acer ScanPrisa 640P with parallel port connection. I have recently managed to obtain the driver for the scanner, which was compatible with Windows XP. Earlier, my OS would not even detect the presence of the scanner. Since installing the new driver also did not help, I took the advice of a forum and changed my 'BIOS settings' so that the LPT port worked on 'EPP'. Now, I managed to get the computer to detect the scanner (it's still not present in the 'Device Manager' however.) Now, everytime I try to obtain an image from the scanner, the image-editing program (such as Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady) that I have open at the time closes immediately after the MiraScan splash screen is shown. It only seems to work in Microsoft Word, and even then the quality is not good. What's going on, and how do I fix it? Arghs, this scanner's causing me a lot of pain. =( Thanks for any help! =)
Try the program compatibility mode I think these scanner were made for 95/98 DOS machines and did not translate to EXP because of firmware differences.
