Question about Panasonic PT-47WX42 47" Rear Projection Television
Hello Lee. I have seen that many, many times. There are 2 large black convergence IC's, STK392-110 and one of them has shorted out. The extra current it is drawing is cooking the resistor next to it and the computer senses the extra current and shuts the set down. The part you see glowing is a 2.2 ohm 1 watt (or 2 watt)resistor, the same as the 5 other resistors next to it colored red, red, gold. You need to replace the convergence IC that the burning resistor is connected to and replace that resistor, and your set will then work normally again. If you have no experience replacing convergence IC's then have a qualified tech handle it for you.
