My printer won't print using Plain Paper and Standard or Draft selection. When I try to print a typical paper document the pages emerge with few or no characters printed. I first attempted to address the problem by changing all my ink cartidges and running all the maintenance processes. Seems that if I select special media options (e.g., Photo Paper Pro) and select print quality "High", then I get a nicely printed document. Any suggestions of how to fix my Canon i860 so I can print "plain old" documents again with regular media and print quality selections? Thanks!
Refer to my previous post about manual under head cleaning and follow the routine through. This will most likely get you going as sounds like classic blocked nozzles. http://www.fixya.com/support/t137335-problem_print_outs_from_printer

Cannon i850 wont print draft black - ok with colours. Black ink is not going down despite multiple deep cleans whereas colours are used proportionate to cleaning cycles. This is with a NEW PRINTHEAD! (all inks are brand new too).
My Canon i860 won't print on Plain Paper but works fine on higher resolution paper settings. I have done head cleaning several times but the problem persists.
