Turned on the camera and the lens did not open. I hear the lens attempting to open but it can't. I get the green light to flash but it turns off. I tried many times but nothing helps.Turned on the camera and the lens did not open. I hear the lens attempting to open but it can't. I get the green light to flash but it turns off. Yes, very similar problem.
First time this happened on a trip that included bumpy road but camera in protective case. Went to turn, gears ground away, lense popped out then it shut down and would not turn on.
Removed and changed batteries with fresh. No change. 4 hours later I tried again and it turned on part way and turned off again. Did this several times within a few minutes and eventually it stayed working. Worked OK for 6 months, then did the same thing again, but has failed to revive. It will start up but shuts off (freezes/no further action) after a few seconds.
What recourse do I have? Just giving up and buying a new one doesn't seem quite right, nor is it a solution. If this is irrepairable, what is the problem and why?
I have enjoyed the camera for its lense features (unbeatable close-focus & wide angle) and there is no copmparison on the market. Please give me osme good news.

Have you tried checking if the battery door is completely shut and flush with the body of the camera? Try cleaning the contacts where the batteries touch and make sure that there isn't any dust or dirt obstructing the plates. If your camera still doesn't turn on, the battery has probably short-circuited or fried. You can easily order another one for under $10 via Amazon here:
1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera.
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Without the memory card, turn on your camera.

Well to be3 a 100% about the battery I would replace it with one that you know or is guaranteed to work. Camera batteries can look OK from outside and be completely collapsed inside.
No Charge lights can indicate NO battery and if there is one inside then it is dead and registers as a no battery ( no charge light)
The red light blinks in very low state, but totally discharged it will not blink and wont blink again until loeft on chareger for about 3-4 hrs to overcome the low state.
I replaced the battery. The new one keeps a charge and lets the ac adapter charge the battery. I plan on purchasing a new battery and recycling the old one.
This camera needs rechargeable batteries usually lasts about a week with much use. I thought what a waste of batteries then tried these rechargable and the situation hasn't occured . it is probably because it is small digtal camera which uses alot of power.
Check the manual for indications of error.
Look for a reset to factory settings option.
Switch off and remove batteries
Take the memory card out and carefully cleane the contacts, now wrap a piece of paper atround the card in such a way that you have a frip on the paper an insert it and work it up and down thus polishing the chamber contacts.
No joy?

I opened up mine today and found out that all you needed to do was put the plastic gear back into place and it's A ok. Open up the camera and when you're facing the front, check the little plastic compartment on the top right to see if the gears are in place. I fixed it and everything is A ok now. :)
