Everytime I turn on my Epson TM-L90 printer it prints out continuous pages of;
...and it doesn't stop.
I have tried turning the power supply off and taking out the serial port to the PC, and even uninstalling all the drivers/software.
Is there another way of resetting this printer?
Any help or advice would be most appreciated!
Look for the dip switches parameters in internet supposed to be config at 9600 speed try dip switch 1 pos 1 on this will eliminate ???? if doesnt print switch 1 pos 1 off and switch 2 pos 7 or 8 on for the 9600 if not change the card interface this is for serial for the other look in https://pos.epson.com/products/ download the manual find the switches usually the interface is bad

Are you using a third party USB adapter or a USB interface? On the self test page that you printed does it say USB connection or something that will say about USB? or does it say parallel or serial connection? try to check the dip switches setting if its configured properly. visit epsonexperts.com site for more info.
you firmware is right one for that printer because in most of cases it happens due to wrong firmware and bad ADF kits. so check your ADF kids and if you find them fine the install updated firmware on in.
And put job seperator option always as disabled
once you done with these all then turn your printer off and turn it back on.

Found them finally Pete - this is the service manual for the printer;
Check page 45 of the pdf (page2-21 of the manual) for the location of the switches, the next 2 pages for the settings a bit clearer than on my previous post.
also probably worth a read through the rest, in case there are some other possible solutions - I couldn't find one but you might see something that sounds familiar.

It sounds as if the port is trying to operate a mouse - giving the ???????.
If you have windows XP then go to control panel, printers and faxes, then click "add a printer".
The add printer wizard starts up, click next.
select the "local printer" option and make sure the "automatically detect and install....etc" option is turned off.
Click next and you should be able to select printer port. If you are using the serial port COM 1 (usually the only one externally on the pc), then select it from the list and follow the wizard through to the end.
Restart the PC and you should hopefully find that the port has become dedicated to the printer alone.
if still problems, go to device manager, right click on the COM 1 port and select properties, it should allow you to start the troubleshooter for the port. This should help.
Other operating systems will have a similar procedure.
Also worth trying is to uninstall the epson drivers, restart, plug the printer in and turn it on, and see if windows will automatically install the printer without the epson drivers. If it will, then let it do it's stuff and hopefully it will work.
