Panasonic TH-42PZ700U - Set has been great for almost a year. Tonight, nothing but a blinking power light. & blinks. Did some searching and found many hits about Panasonic's "Blinking Power Light of Death". Apparently Panasonic has a systemic issue related to the voltage regulators in their units. See this post, which refers to another post that has been tracking this systemic issue for almost 5 years - http://www.epinions.com/review/Panasonic...
I have my set pulling power from a Panamax power conditioner so I highly doubt there is an electrial issue. Even so, I bypassed the power conditioner and went with a different wall outlet. Same issue. I will be contacting Panasonic in the morning.Panasonic TH-42PZ700U - Set has been great for almost a year. Tonight, nothing but a blinking power light. & blinks. I unpluged mine and the light was still blinking when it was unpluged. I thought that was weird. So I pluged it back in and just heald the power button in untill the light went out. It went out within ten seconds. I pushed the power button again and the tv went on. WOOHOO!!! Just needed reset, I guess.
Typically this means you've got a power supply that went bad. I've been doing research for a potential class action lawsuit on these "blinking lights of death" problems that the Panasonics are having and that is usually why the tv will show 10 blinks. Occasionally another component inside the tv can be what caused the tv to shutdown and show the 10 blinks.
I'd like to hear more about your experience with the television and any contact you've had with Panasonic in an attempt to get the television repaired. If you're inclined to share your story with me, please contact me at [email protected].
This cause is the power supply board is dying, not giving the right voltage to the rest of the tv anymore. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
It sounds like the power supply is bad.Open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items called capacitors on the circuit boards. If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again.I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!
