Everytime the iPhone is connected, my computer opens iPhoto - not iTunes. There isn't even an icon for the iPhone in iTunes so I cannot initialize....
I have the same problem running os 10.4.9 and iTunes 7.3 and have yet to figure thos one out. Try turning off auto detection in iphoto. Chances are that iphone not only looks like an ipod to the computer but also a digital camera. I actually use thos feature to organise my photos so o havent tried it yet.
We have the same problem. Apple tells us that we need 10.4.10 (Tiger OS). We have 10.3.9 (Panther). So we have to spend $129 and get Tiger.
You need to get the latest itunes.. 7.3 I think it is. Ask the people @ the itunes store or download it off of Apple. I think it was arouns 135.00.
ITunes is a free download. You would have needed the latest 7.3 version to activate the iPhone (or are you using another computer?) so that isn't the problem. Try opening iTunes first, then connect the iPhone. You should see the iPhone in the list.

I have Tiger and I have the latest version of iTunes. When I connect my iPhone, iPhoto opens even though I have no photos on my iPhone. iTunes doesn't open. When I open it manually, my iPhone doesn't show up in the list of devices. Help! This didn't happen when I had Panther. I just installed Tiger.
