My camera lens won't close, I take out the battery and reinsert it, then the camera will turn on, but freezes up and won't work. Cannot shut the camera off, must remove battery to do so. Very frustrated...only had camera 1 year!

Camera shuts off when shutter button is pressed.

I'd try replacing the battery first. It is common for a low power battery to not allow the camera's computer to read what it is supposed to do correctly. If the new fully charged battery doesn't fix it, I'd then contact customer service.

Sounds like you forgot to use the "safely remove hardware" function when you unplugged the camera. Try this.. remove the card and battery...press every button....leave it alone for 20 minutes....insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

Camera wont turn on

try to check the battery contacts of the camera...you might need to 'wipe' a contact cleaner to clean it. Caution: Be careful on working with chemicals with your camera. If still no luck...refer to a qualified service tech

Important photos are stuck in the internal memory of my camera.

Select the Display mode with the top dial. Press the Set button to bring up the menus. Press the Rev key to scroll down through the menus. On the second page of menus, select the Copy menu. Then press the Lightning Bolt key to scroll right. Select the top of the 2 menu items. This will copy the internal pics to the memory card, assuming you have a memory card inserted.

FZ5 to PC download problems

My golden rule with any digital camera is to ignore the cr@p software that comes with it - it is NOT required to download the photos off the camera. Simply (assuming you're using Windows XP) goto "My Computer", select the removable drive that is the camera (e.g. drive E:), go down a few levels of folders and you will see the files - select and copy or cut.
