Thanks for reply.Mechcanical parts work as they should striking and moving plastic slide into correct position for peg on electric switch to engage. But there is no currant at switch to energize it Seems like an electrical problem I think a wiring diagram is needed to show where switch should draw its power from Any help would be well received,Chris

I think what you need is possibly a new door handle latch or spring, sometimes the spring breaks or becomes weak, it is unlikely to be a fault with the door lock, as they rarely fail.
To replace , undo all screws holding inner and outer door panels together, and prise the 2 panels apart, be careful the door glass does not fall and break
Take note of the position of spring and latch
Please rate my suggested solution, and feel free to leave a comment.
Thankyou.

The door lock gets its supply from the main pcb at the top of washer.

If there is no supply to lock, then it is likely to be a faulty pcb..There is no wiring diagram to be had for these washers, only Hotpoint engineers have them, and they are not availble to the public .If the pcb has failed, then there is a a strong possibility that some thing else has caused it to fail.

    Hope this helps.

    cheers.

the spring may have gone in the latch on the door.
close the door and push the handle part by hand to move the latch into the lock more firmly.
to replace the spring or handle assembly remove the screws from the back of the door and prise the front off.

Hotpoint - door locked, won't start, please help

to open the door to get your clothes out you will need to take the top cover off and then get a screwdriver to move the latch across.
make sure the plug is off so no power! and an engineer may be required if you can't acertain the problem.

WF100 door wont open

The interlock has jammed, first try gently pushing the door frame on the latch side of the door and then hit the outer door frame with your fist, not too hard but a reasonable bang this may release the door, if this works spray a lubricant into the latch hole in the panel, open and close the door a few times before reusing, if this fails then you have to force the door open, the best way is to remove the lid and manouver the door lock from the inside, either the lock or the latck will eventually break, this is unavoidable, then replace the interlock and any other broken part.
