If you have not "opened" your Xbox (taken the case off the main unit) and you are having problems, think about calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX that is the customer support number for Microsoft.
If you have had it less than 90 days it should be covered under warranty. If you open the unit they will no longer fix your system for a reasonable charge and it will be cheaper to buy a new one.
Check out some of the light errors here http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/xbox_motherboard.htm
It depends on your exact sequence of flashing lights as to the exact problem. Hope this helps.

If you only get a flashing green light on the center while you turn on the console. You should get a green light going in a circle around the center light, (the 4 other lights, that can turn red as well (famous Red Ring of death))
if you don't get any red or green lights around the flashing center ring, then the console is not able to turn on / boot up properly and is in need of repairs, check the powersupply led, what color is it? it should be green when you power on and orange when not in use.
That flashing green light meens there is a problem with the power to you DVD drive. the power is being interrupted. ie, when you have power the welcome screen will load and when it doesn't it will shut off. you don't have continuos power. For example if you have the power cable unpluged and then plug it in with the power on the xbox will reboot. Check the wires and the port on the motherboard if all is ok you need a new drive.
turn on the console. let it start up all the way. turn on the controller. on the console to the right side of the two memory card slots is a little button. press and hold it til the green lights start flashing around the power button. there is a little button on top of the controller. when the lights around the power button are flashing, press and hold the button on the top of the controller til the lights around the center button start flashing and then it should sync together
When you tried to use the new controller did you sinc it with the Xbox? There is a very small button on the front of the controller at the center. You need to turn the XBox360 on, then your controller and press the small button at the center front. Your next step is to press the small button on the XBox360 console located to the left of the power button. Both the controller and XBox360 should start to flash until they sinc up.
The TV screen or monitor remains black when you start an Xbox 360 console.
This behavior may occur with or without a game disc in the disc tray. The console appears to be on because the green power light illuminates and the fan continues to operate. However, the screen remains black.
You have a major failure on the motherboard. If it was your hard drive the system will boot up, but freeze on the main screen and you will hear clicking coming out of the hard drive. Red and Green flashing lights means there is a problem on the motherboard. Sometimes you can fix the problem by reflashing the Bios on the main motherboard.
well your tray is stuk it happens i usually push the eject butten then push in the disk and if thet dosent work i sometime hit (not hard) right above the disk tray and for your other problem try checking all the plugs and if all are good then it is most likly the inside of your xbox if you lost your warenty then i would look it up on google and see if you can fix it your self or send it to some1 (or u can buy a new xbox prices today are cheap $150-220)
