The only way I get restore disks to go to the vendor and get it from them or download from vendor also, normally they its free, or search the internet and download if you have access to another PC - possibly from a friend or library. Hope this will help.

Most of the laptops, in these days, have an restore partition, located in the same hard disk of your laptop. just turn on your laptop and quickly press F11 or F10, these keys, usually, bring the restore menu.

If you are able to open the Start menu, you can type "recovery" in the search field and try to run the Acer Recovery Management software. If you are not able to run any app AND you have made an USB Recovery disk, you can restore the OS by booting from this USB disk - plug it to the USB socket, restart the computer, tap the F12 key on a BIOS screen, then select the USB disk to boot from. After booting from an USB drive, you can select what type of restoration you need (quick or complete).
If you have not made an USB Recovery drive, it is only one method available: reinstalling the OS from an external CD/DVD disc.

I need to restore a Tosiba Satellite A305-S6858 but i dont have a disk, can i still restore it? and how? pls pls help

some system on your windows has corrupted, it caused by a virus or bad disk
you need to restore your system to fix this issue
if your laptop build in windows xp and you have a restore disk just follow these steps
1. turn on your notebook
2.quickly press ctr and f11 simultaneously
3. click restore when "Dell PC restore" message appears
4.click confirm (it means you will lost all data in drive which contains your old operation system)
5.wait and click finish when the process of restore finish
if your laptop build in windows vista you can follow these steps
1. turn on your laptop
2. quickly press f8
3. when "Advance Boot Menu" message appears just click repair
4. select language and click next
5. log in and click ok
6. click dell factory restore and click next
7. click yes on the box "format hard drive and restore the system"
8. when the process finish click finish
if you don't have a restore disk build in your laptop you need a windows cd installer to reinstall your os

Easy fix. Hold down the power button on the system until it turns red. Release, and repeat. Release and repeat, only this time wait until you hear 2 quick beeps. Release quickly and then you go into Safe Mode, Choose option 5, PS3 System Restore. This will also reformat your disk. System will automatically restart when you complete the system setup. Only warning is you lose all login info and possibly content you have downloaded. You are done.

I have an old Presario 5000 series PC, hard disk crashed, bought a new hard disk and tried to use the Quick Restore CD's to Restore to Factory settings. Can't seem to boot up from Disc 1 of the Quick...

For boot from disk first you have to set first boot device option in BIOS.
for that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot menu then set first boot device as your cd/dvd rom.
then save settings then insert recovery diks in rom then check.
Then it boot from disk if your disk and cd.dvd rom works fine.

How to quick restore acer 4314-2490

Typically ALT+F10 on boot up. Some newer models that have vista you just do by pressing F8 and it shows up on the windows boot menu. If neither of these work, you probably need the restore disks.

How do you format the hard drive on Dell Inspiron 1000. I have the restore system disk and don't have anything on it worried about losing...just need to format and start fresh..it's got too many issues and...

I'd put ubuntu on it, if it's a inspiron 1000, should run ok. If you have the restore disks from dell, just turn it on, pop in the cd, then reboot, the pc should boot from cd, then just follow the promps, make sure you delete all partitions, format thorough (not quick NTFS), use the whole disk for windows

hi, you may need to set your laptop to boot from the cd/dvd. you will need to enter the bios and check the boot priority. power the laptop as soon as you power on press either F2 or F10 to enter the bios (you have to be pretty quick with the F2 button). once in the bios look for the heading BOOT or BOOT PRIORITY F5 or F6 willchange the boot order.

Hello Dean

In Ideal scenarios your Restore Disks should work even if you have the Vista on the computer.
I hope you are using the right steps in order to perform that restore as you need to boot up using the disk 1.

Another step you can do is to Reinstall the XP using a disk(Which you may borrow from someone) after formating the harddrive, however you will have to reinstall all the software programs and the drivers as well.
