Panasonic TH-50PX77U - same problem. It starts after about 20min of the TV being on. Some pops are louder than others. I'm thinking its a relay of some sort in the power supply. But who knows. I haven't called Panasonic yet... The TV is 5 months old.

If the sound isn't coming the speakers then its cabinet expansion. Specifically between the panel and the front cabinet.
I believe Panasonic has a fix for this.

You most likely had a capacitor let go, they make a pop when the go out, inspect the PCB for a burned mark.

try turning off AND unplug for a couple minutes! USB may have pulled power down to start the switching noise. Try usb again and if it does it again then I wouldn't use that usb anymore.

I have a HP PL5060N that has no sound at all. It was working fine, then we heard a pop and the sound stopped working. There's no sound coming from any port. I had my sound system plugged in and though it...

In all probability, the "pop" you heard was the sound of the internal power supply failing. If you apply the "50%" rule and find that the cost of repair, factoring in the age of the TV, is 50% or more of the replacement cost then replacement may be the way to go.

Most likely what happened is one of the capacitors went bad. When a capacitors goes bad it produces a popping sound. This could be an easy and cheap fix if you find the bad capacitor or capacitors. The bad capacitor will have a bulging top most likely on the power board but could be anywhere.

This kept happening when I would go to turn on the set the TV kept playing fine with picture & sound but after the 2nd attemts I turned it off & then tried to turn it back on which took multiple attempts, it kept playing for a few minutes then the picture went out but the sound was still there.

Buzzing sound

You haven't specified where the buzzing sound is coming from, if it is coming from speakers, changing capacitors in the audio section will fix the problem, especially the filters. Now if it sounds like a hissing sound from back of the tv, the CRT base socket is the culprit. It is an easy thing to fix, and the base is cheap, but make sure you purchase the exact same type of base or it will harm the CRT. Good luck.

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Our LG 50" plasma tv screen went black after a popping noise but still had sound, after great diliberations decided to take the back off and have a peek!
We unplugged the tv and tested the fuses (there were three we could see) one had blown, the one on the left as you look at the back of the tv it also has one above it. We wrote the code/seriel number down and took the fuse to the electrical wholesalers Maplin and bought a pack of 10 fuses for £1.29 replaced the fuse in the tv and everything now fine!!!!!!
Hope this might be of use to anyone whose lost the picture after a loud popping/snacking noise but still has sound.

Toshiba tz50v51 popping sound

Possible problems: * The TV set may be unplugged. * A fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or switched off. * The remote control unit (RCU) may be disabled. Solutions: * Make sure the TV/VCR are plugged in and the wall switch is on. * Check the fuse or circuit breaker. Test the outlet with a lamp. * Replace the RCU's batteries: if this fails exchange the unit.
