I have a hitachi projection tv, manufactured may 2001, and one side is shadowing. do u believe this to be a convergence problem?

  • m7alba11 Jan 21, 2009

I resoldered what looked to be cold solder joints on the two convergence IC's (STK392-110). After replacing and reconnecting everything the other half of the tv started shadowing a greenish color as well. Do you think I have bad convergence IC's?

It sounds like you have convergence problems
you can try going into the menu and if you can not correct it there the convergence circuit will have to be repaired

yes i think you have convergence ics that are failing i would sub them with STK392-150 and check your resistors to make sure there all in tolerance

and i wouldnt get into the DCU unless i just had to

Ultravision Digital TV has shadows and vertical

I believe it is either interference or a convergence issue. To fix an issue with convergence try to find a convergence setting in the menu. If thatr doesn't work try to clean your projection lenses with a q-tip and alcohol.
Good Luck.
