BIOSTAR K8M800 Micro AM2 wont boot

I just purchased this mobo and all the parts needed for a new comp. from but I cant get this guy to work. Whenever I turn the computer on it powers up for a few second then turns itself off. I thought I jacked up the heatsink instillation so I reseated that but the problem persisted. After that I took out everything bit by bit to find the problem and lone behold I have it. Whenever the ATX powercord is plugged in, the computer will turn off for a few seconds. If I unplug the ATX powercord it will start up fine but I dont get video, ect ect ect. Any ideas on what is causing this? The case itself is a new one with a 450 watt power supply and Im using a Athlon 64 X2 3600. Any ideas on what might be causing this? thanks!

Well, the problem is that when the ATX power cord is plugged and I hit the power button to turn on my computer it will turn on for a few seconds then shut itself off. At first I thought it was doing this to keep the CPU from overheating but after alot of troubleshooting I found that the use of the ATX power cord is the cause, but I need to use a ATX powercord or otherwise I wont get any video.

    thanks again!

It's suppose to do that. These motherboards are new generation. After everything is ready to go, you plug the power cord to the wall and pc. The computer power supply fan spins for about 3 seconds or so and maybe a few lights blink. This is normal. Its kind of a self diagnostic telling itself (I'm ok, you can power me on now). Did I answer your guestion? If not, let me know.

Why does memory upgrade for biostar k8m800-mam2 motherboard cause memory error beeps?

I would verify that the memory you're using is actually working properly.
Try to boot to the new stick and see if it works.
If not, it doesn't work.
If it does, you may need to replace the original stick with the same stick that you are trying to use now.
