Err message I have been using the Homedics® Glass Body Fat Scale Health Station? to measure a number of people's body composition, but for one individual we continue to get the "Err" message.  We have dampened her feet, and moved her position, but continuously get this message.  She is 5'2", 59 years old, and about 195 lbs.  She does have small feet, which we thought might affect this.  It works for everyone else - with a lot of different shapes and sizes so it doesn't seem to be a malfunction.

I have same problem with my scale. New batteries work for a few days. I'm throwing this thing out.

First be sure that you are bare foot when using the scale. If you are not making contact with the metal sensors on the scale's platform the scale will read Err 2. The way the scale is able to measure your body fat and body water % is by sending a small, unnoticeable electronic signal through your body. Also, be sure the scale is on a flat, stable, hard surface while in use.

The BIA is bioelectric impedance analysis or your body fat. BIA is the method used to determine your body fat, it sends a small electric pulse through your body and using formulas that account for the time it takes for the pulse to travel through water, muscle and fat. Remeber that this measurement can be affected by different variables such as water if you have taken a shower or drank a glass of water before being measured so it is not always acurate. To obtain a more accurate measurement I reccomend using it first thing in the morning before showering or eating/drinking when there is less chance of variables.
