Dishwasher only runs in rinse only mode!

My dishwasher just starting doing this. I shut the door and select a wash mode and it starts running. Then a few seconds later, it switches to rinse only mode. I doesn't matter what mode I start in, it switches to rinse only. I have tried turing it off at the switch and letting is sit a while and restarting, but it still does this. I have let it run through the rinse cycle and starting over to no avial. Do I just need a bigger hammer? Thanks, Joe

I also have this disturbing problem, at the moment I am surfing the net for a solution so I can use my dishwasher again...Although I have a Maytag QuietSeries 100.

My dishwasher just keeps bleaking clear AND NO WATER IS GOING INTO THE MACHINE IT JUSTS KEEPS RUNNING BUT THEIR IS NO WATER COMING IN.

MAKING A STRANGE NOISE WHEN STARTING THE HOT START

try re-setting it. unplug power. visually see if d/w looks clean. re-connect and run an empty short cycle ensuring door properly closed. good luck

I have a Samsung dishwasher DMR77 series and when I push the button to wash the dishes it directly goes into the rinse mode. How do I fix this problem?

Try waiting it out - some dishwashers like to run a rinse first to get off the easy stuff, then it starts the wash cycle. Let it run it's cycle and see if it works.

The lights will blink when the door is closed and the start button is pushed

Try a reset. I have a kitchenaid. The reset is to press the sani-rinse, hea-dry, sani-rinse, heat -dry, then close the door. You can hear action the dishwasher doing something. Takes about 2-3 minutes, then stops. At this point I was able to select a wash cycle and start, close the door, and it started. Good luck

You assume correct. The control board switches the direction, but if there's a mechanical problem like a bad start capacitor, then it won't run

Quick Rinse light was flashing at end of cycle. Opened and closed door and pushed Start. Quick Rinse and Cancel/Drain light are now flashing and machine won't start. Turned off power supply (30 seconds) /...

Ok try this, open the door and then hit these buttons in the following combination. HI TEMP - DRY - HI TEMP - DRY...then close door and press cancel...then wait for the pump to shut down. you should be able to run a cycle after this...If this fails to fix the problem give me the make and model # of the dishwasher, this can normally be found just inside the door.

Kenmore Dishwasher 5871525 stops running after a few minutes

sounds like a stuck key pad since you said the normal wash button flashed.. the other thing is try holding the door shut while you run it.. to see of it is maybe not latching properly..

Not starting

Getting Started
1. Load dishwasher (See Preparing and Loading Dishes).
2. Add detergent (See Dishwasher Dispenser & Detergents).
3. Add rinse aid, if needed (See Rinse Aid).
4. Close door to latch.
5. Select desired CYCLE (See Cycle Chart).
6. Select desired OPTIONS (See Energy Options). The indicator light above the pad will glow when selected.
7. Run hot water faucet nearest dishwasher until water is hot. Turn water off.
8. To start, press START/CANCEL pad.

My dishwasher shuts itself off

The lights will typically blink when the door comes open. It may be that when the washer warms up, parts of it expands and allows the door to open slightly. It may also be that the trigger that registers the door being shut is not being tripped.

after use, dishes are still dirty, and food debris all over washer. however good water in and out. it appears that the food grinder is not grinding up the food and exiting the drain, but are staying trapped in the washer. manually removed, ran rinse, more debris. Ran 4x. Still there. Ran a cycle with degreaser, then rinsed till suds gone. Ran 2 cycles with vinegar. Still debris. Any clue?
