Try moving wheel back and forth while putting key in. Or if thats not it, take a screw driver flathead and try to turn ignition both ways just a bit. Sometimes those key cylinders dont go back into the open key position. Try that as you are moving the whhel as well. but my car does the same thing in the cold, and a screw driver seems to do it every time. Good luck let me know how you make out. PS Im guessing that ther is not something stuck inside ignition?? Good luck

SOURCE: key stuck in ignition but it will turn, and

you most likely have a bad key switch cylinder assembly. you can try to spray wd40 solvent into the switch before you have the switch replaced, but sometimes it's a switch replacement that repairs the problem. have you inspected your ignition key to look for damage to the key itself? try a spare key to make sure it's the key,and not the key switch. you can also try turning the key while turning the steering wheel at the same time to get the key to work.sometimes the switch locks when parked in a bind, such as on a hill,or against a curb and so on. try this 1st before you have the ignition switch replaced. AAA auto club,if you're a member covers part of the replacement costs for a replacement switch also. you may have coverage through a cell phone also.one more thing to try, if you have a tilt steering column, try to reposition the steering wheel to see if you can get the key to turn. remember never force it enough to break your key off into the switch! thank you for choosing fixya.com!

SOURCE: My car won't start I

The key barrel is defective and it will haver to be replaced. Since you will have to force it to make it turn long enough to get it out you should take the car to a repair shop - the risk of breaking something is too great for you to do it.

SOURCE: Put key in ignition and it won't turn

Your ignition is bad, or your key might be worn out if you have more then one you might try that. Other wise you will have to replace the ignition switch.

2007 lincoln navigator the car sign with a lock on comes on and it won't start

Key ignition key has a chip in the key, if the chip does not match the signature the car is looking for, it will not start - this is an anti-theft feature. The key can be programmed from one of your other keys, or by the dealer.

Can not put key into ignition

There will be a white plastic barrier preventing key entry. Slide a slotted screwdriver along the side of the barrier and slide it to the left exposing your key opening.
