You really don't want to get into the vacuum. You could cause more damage than what you have now. After you do get into the vac, the cordwinder is another monster to get into.
There are two strips, one on each side of the cleaner under the rubber bumpers. The strips have to be removed by pulling off the bumper and pull them out the front of the vac. This is not easy. After you get the locking strips out, turn the vac over and pull the bottom off. Then you can see the cordwinder.
The best thing to do is take the vac to a Aerus/Electrolux shop for repair.

SOURCE: My epic 6500SR is not working. The power comes on

This is usually caused by your full bag indicator shutoff switch.
The control valve has gone bad. This is the dial on the top of the vacuum that has numbers on it.
You cannot bypass this problem from outside the machine.
The part can be bought at the local outlet. Go to www.aerusonline.com and find A local dealer. It is not too expensive to fix, and is a common problem on later model electroux vacuums.

Where is the CVA located in the Electrolux Epic 6500SR?

You need to replace the control valve. It's inside the canister under the dirt cup. If you want it done by a professional, call your local authorized Aeurus dealer.

Power head does not work canister does . There is voltage at the power head.

Although it could be a multitude of things that keep the power nozzle from operating properly, the most likely is, since it's an Epic series, Is that the power nozzle elbow assembly needs replaced as the fine wires and top of the elbow tend to break/short after 5-10 yrs. of use.
It's also very well possible that the power nozzle reset switch or hose switch at top of handle is defective. Try plugging the power nozzle directly into the hose handle assembly and turn machine on. If the power nozzle still doesn't work, it's definitely a problem directly with the power nozzle.

Hope that helps!

Need manual for epic series 6500sr

Hi,
Go to aerusonline.com. They have a section under the "surface" heading that you can download the manual. If no Epic 6500 is showing, use the Legacy manual. Same thing.
Hope that helps. :-)

I have an Electrolux Epic Model 6500sr canister apart and I need the wiring diagram for it Thanks Jim

Unfortunaly I don't have that wiring diagram. I am sure that the service manual can be ordred thru sears as they are the carriers for this material. What excactly is the issue and maybe we won't need the diagram.

Parts for Electrolux Epic 6500

You need to look under AERUS Electrolux to find a Dealer with parts.
Electrolux USA sold the brand name back to AB Electrolux of Sweden a few years ago and there is no relation between the two.
You may also find a common component of a different color at a Tri Star dealer as they shared some power head and hose technology in the era of the EPIC although they don`t tell people that

How do you take the handle apart?

Take a box cutter blade or something razor thin and locate the 2 screw covers on the handle. Pry the two covers off and remove the 2 hex screws. Pull handle apart. Done. Might want to check your elbow down on the power nozzle before you rip apart that handle though. 4 out of 5 times, the problem is in the elbow.
