I just got a 2002 chevy trail blazer. It has the factory double din radio installed with built in amp. I can only hear a little from the speakers when turned up all the way. I can't seem to get anything from the front right of the vehicle and it's just quiet from all the other speakers. I thought maybe a ground or something with the speaker that would be causing it. The dealership says it is the factory amp that has a short in it. I haven't started diging into it yet and was wondering if i should start at the speaker or at the deck. everything else in the radio seems to be working. there are two front right speakers i can't hear anything out of, the pass door and the pass front dash speaker. please give me better answers than the dealership did, "It'll cost $60.00 for us to even look at it". I think I'll just try it out myself.
Must fix soon for road trip!! HELP!!

Re: radio won't turn up, nothing from front pass side
Ok if you can, pull out the radio. disconnect the plugs off the back. Go here to find the wireing diagram of the 2003 trail blazer as I think it is the same as the 2002. http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~21084
Take a 1 and a half volt to 9 volt battery, and go to each speaker pair and touch the speaker wires to the battery, on and off to see if you hear a click out of the speakers. If you do, You know the speakers are good, if you do not hear a click when you touch the battery to the speaker leads, then of course the speaker or the wiring is bad. It would probably be less expensive to get another radio installed then it would be to get this one repaired or to get another one from the junk yard. Good Luck

I do believe you can search through Crutchfield.com and in there is an explanation on din sizes and with a vehicle search you can see what size din yours should be.
You should have a double din if it is OEM. A single din is about 2" tall while a double is 4" tall.
There was also a DH (din and a half) found in early 80's to early 90's GM vehicles (and maybe other makes).
hey there,i hope the project turns out great, 1) round up all materials needed such as door components and indash radio, install plug for aftermarket radio, get a radio install kit they are like 10-15 bucks ,and if ur doing a double din radio you will have to cut trim to fit and inside compartment behind radio, but if your doin stock 1 din you will be fine. 2) in order to get to radio in dash you must pull dash bezel off from around gauges and radio and the radio has push down release tabs on both sides of radio ...push these down and pull radio outwards. 3) use new wire plug harness and install radio using install kit so radio sits in it and slides back in with tabs. 4) door panels come off with (3)crews that are 7mm near door handle, bottom of door near speaker, and inside where the switch panel is.must pull up switch panel to get to screw others are visible. 5) take mirror cap off and lift upwards on panel the whole panel will come off make sure to unplug vanity light at bottom door and all switches.remove n set to side door ....remove speaker and unplug then install new speaker cut plug install new crimped wire connector caps and install speaker and do reverse to put door back on and this go's for the otherside as well. 6) if theres more to your system write back with any ?'s ok ill try to help as much as possible.

Can purchased an adapter kit at Best Buy or Circuit City that is color cordinated with the factory wires for about 12.00. This will go right into the factory plug.
