No Pictre, Flashing Power LED - Philips 42PFP5532D Plasma

I have a 42" plasma tv, Philips 42PFP5532D/05. This tv will no longer switch on. When switched on the the front panel LED lights up blue for a second and then changes to red. It flashes red twice and then pauses for about 2 seconds before the LED lights red for about 3 seconds. It then pauses for several seconds before it repeats this cycle.

I presume the LED flashing red twice indicates an error but I haven't a clue what the error codes are for Philips plasmas. I don't know if the problem is with the PSU, PCB board or other. Can anyone help me identify what the error code is that I a seeing? Thank you.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details of many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

SOURCE: 42" philips plasma

when a television turns off by itself and flashes as you say, it indicates that there is a problem inside the tv. If you keep trying to turn it on you may do more damage. It could be something as simple as a faulty fuse inside. If you have no expierience with electrics I suggest you get it checked out by a professional. I had a similar problem with another tele model and it was the fuse in the back of the tele that needed changing. I did try to this on my own but unfortunatley didn't have the right fuse so i took it to a repair shop and he done it really quickly.

SOURCE: 42FD9954 philips plasma TV flashing LED it wont come on

The problem is in the standby power supply. the standby power supply generates the 9 volts and the 5 volts requird by the tv. If you measure the 9 volts source, with only the red light on, the correct voltage is 9 volts. However if the 9 volt measures 6.5 to 7 volts it is too low and the startup relays cannot operate. My set is a model 42FR9954/17S. In this set if capicator, 2603, is heated the voltage climbs to 9 volts and the relays work. If cold air is applied to the capicator the relays fail to operate. Replace capacitor 2503 and the problen is fixed. This capicator is: 47 Ufd, rated @ 450 volts, and is 20%.

SOURCE: Philips 42'' Plasma TV 42PF7320A/37 red led error codes

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.

This fix was posted on similar problem, worthy of repeating: Replaced 3300mf 10V capacitors at PS. Both had bulged slightly. Upsized to 25V as the previous solution poster had suggested 16V but I could not locate 16V so used 25V and TV is back to normal!

I have a phillips plasma tv. model 42pfp5532d/05. i canot tune in the digital channels. what do i need to do ?

to get digital, you need to do the autoprogram or channel scan.. then it will find them and add them to your channel. point your antenna toward your towers and re-scan the channels. if you want digital cable, you need a cablecard (where applicable) or cablebox to decode..
