Mitsubishi CS-32509 TV

Hey i just got this tv from a friend and it was working fine before. After i got it set up and turned on a message came up about installing guide plus+ and to turn off the tv or hit cancel to stop the installation however there is no cancel button and i cant figure out how to continue the installation once turned off. I could careless if this guide plus+ feature works or doesn't but it seems with the message on the screen it will not allow me to change channels with the remote or buttons on the tv but i can change volume.

ok i unpluged the tv and turned it back on with the cable pluged in and it went through all the channels and then stopped. After that it just stayed on the channel and using the remote and buttons in the front i wasnt able to change the channel. The guide plus is still showing up is that whats making it so i cant change channels myself? or is it more likely something wrong with the tv?

    thanks for the help

Hi Demitrio. My daughter gave me the same tv yesterday and I have the same installing guide plus message. Can you provide me with instructions on how to unplug it in the inside of the tv?

Unplug the TV for 4 hours or more. This is called a 'Hard Reset'. Then plug it back in, turn it on and let the TV do it's thing. It will set itself up. Just follow the TV setup prompts. Guide Plus is a feature on the TV. Much like a TV guide showing all channels, shows, description of shows, times, etc..

Several channels have lost sound entirely on our Mitsubishi CS-32509 television. On other channels things are in Spanish at times while in English at other times. Then there are other channels that have no...

You've managed to turn on "SAP" (second audio mode) which will cause the trouble. It doesn't affect all channels, as you're finding out, and can be frustrating. Mitsubishi remotes have a singe button for SAP, if I remember correctly, and you can press it and change modes without knowing it. (The button may be marked AUDIO or SAP.) Just press the button until the on-screen display tells you SAP is off. This will bring the sound back to normal.

This ranks up there with the mysterious black box that appears on some channels. This is because of closed-captioning being set to TEXT, and it happens the same way: pressing a button on the remote.

Progressive scan?

No it's interlaced..
Progressive or noninterlaced scanning is a method for displaying, storing or transmitting moving images in which all the lines of each frame are drawn in sequence. This is in contrast to the interlacing used in traditional television systems where only the odd lines, then the even lines of each frame (each image now called a field) are drawn alternately.
The system was originally known as "sequential scanning" when it was used in the Baird 240 line television transmissions from Alexandra Palace, England in 1936. It was also used in Baird's experimental transmissions using 30 lines in the 1920s.

Picture with gray box

The text mode in the closed caption is turned on.Turn off the closed caption. I don't have the schematic in front of me, so, I will wing it. There may be a button on the remote that says CC, if so then use that button to turn it off, if not then go to the service menu and you may have to search a bit. Either way it's an easy fix and you can do it yourself. If you can't find it, then, reply and I will give better instructions when I get into my shop next week.

Poor reception

It sounds like a problem with the tuner in the TV set. Hook up a VCR through the video inputs and hook the cable through the VCR and if the picture is still snowy, the problem is the cable. If the picture is clear, the problem is the tuner in the TV set. If you wanted, you could simply leave the VCR attached to the TV set and change cable channels through the VCR, or have the TV serviced. Good Luck
